Seasonal Pitches
We were at Englethwaite Hall earlier in the week, and while not expecting (or indeed wanting) it to be full of riotous caravannet's, found it almost dead and lifeless. Of course the miserable weather didn't help, but it seemed there was hardly anyone there,
despite the number of caravans. We didn't go armed with a clip board, but a largish proportion seemed to be Seasonals, on purple pegs. Talking to the warden he said they had 15 seasonal pitches, rising to 18 next year. Out of a total of 68. And of course being
mid week I expect most were unoccupied.
I wouldn't criticise anyone wanting a seasonal pitch, but I think that it quite a large proportion. And until I read the supplement in the CC magazine this week, I had no idea of the cost. OH said "how much!" I don't think our 12 nights this year would make
it much of a bargain!

It can be a bargain if you use the pitch enough and especially if you take not needing to tow into consideration. It seems CC allocate pitches as seasonal to attract members to sites as without those users some would be very, very quiet. It makes sense -

We have looked at a seasonal pitch, back when we used to be up and down to Cornwall four or five times a year. Club Sites such as Marazion, which has a short season anyway, were not economic enough for us, but we did find a very nice farm CL, who also did
storage, and resolved our issue that way. The really good thing was that they didn't mind what time we rolled up, a bonus given some of the occasional hold ups we sometimes encountered. We kept our big van down in SW and toured elsewhere with our small van.
Would do same again if we got the chance. We have met a few full timers as well who use seasonal pitches, perhaps booking two for whole year.0 -
we hada seasonal pitch, from September to January. It was very useful as we could leave whatever time we wanted on a Friday night and stay late on Sunday. It also included the October half term and Christmas holidays (but didn't use them then (I know, very selfish of me). It was in the Lakes so there was penty to do each weekend. They are quite expensive but you could in theory stay for a max of 21 nights your van stays all the time)
As for the high proportion of pitches, well at least it gurantees income for the club on as you say otherwise empty sites
