But why should it matter 'Surfer', its there to be purchased irrespective of whether you carry a hose and 6 metres of waste pipe or just to be handy nearby. It seems to me to be a case of 'boo hoo, I want and I can't have'
I could not care less if they want to spend the extra and then not use the facilities offered as it is their money, but does illustrate a lack of something or other.
I agree, a bit of hose and a length of waste pipe most probably.

I did use one for 2 weeks last Christmas. As I explained earlier it makes it easy to top up water and tip waste. I don't want to faff with hooking up. No need when the facility is so close.

The lack is illustrated by others in not accepting the right of members to make their own choices to use pitches for their own reasons in their own way without being criticised.

...Not carrying extra bits when a hose to the aqua roll will suffice ,when us oldies with a hobble, and being of the group with the most disposible income, let others look on with envy

Having a motorhome means that fully serviced pitches(at 3.90 extra a night) are not needed, and not wanted, by me. I just need a hard standing, so that i dont chew up the grass or get bogged down.Too many serviced pitches imho. Restricting pitch choice.
But that is just my own selfish view, as the op s is.0 -

You have entered into the spirit of this forum in good faith by commenting on what in your eyes is a problem that is worth mentioning. Unfortunately you have been jumped on from a great height by the posts that followed.
I fully understand what you are trying to say and you threw it open for discussion. You now know how the forum can work.
I hope it doesn't put you off, most people on here have been through the same. However I would suggest that your wording may have come across as a bit aggressive to recieve the replies it did.
It would be interesting to hear what the wardens slant is on this situation.

Harry, you are absolutely right on the aggressive wording aspect. The OP would have done well to pause and think things through and couch his point in less combative terms. He may then even have realised that it's actually down to the pitch user how they
use the services.I can't honestly see what you hope a warden's input will achieve. There are no rules here.

Write your comments here...I think a little intelligence is needed at the moment , never mind a warden's opinion

I think you'll find Wardens are there to run the site for the good of all not to act as Primary School Teachers pandering to a Child's demands.

No sorry but I don't agree. Anyone is of course open to come on Ct and express a problem as they see it. If the Op had simply stated the 'problem' and asked why it happened, ie people booking and
paying for SP but not using them as such, then perhaps people would reply in a friendly manner. However, when the OP calls this practice as, quote selfishness
and a disregard for others, then adds that such users feel themselves a class above a 'standard pitch user' then people will reply to such insults in a like manner.0 -

I too would have thought that MHers would be the last to want/need a serviced pitch as they can easily drive the vehicle to fill and empty, but on the site here we are next to the serviced pitches and, of the 4 pitches beside us, 2 are occupied by MHs. One has their waste going straight to the drain, but no water connected, the other has nothing connected and also has an Aquaroll sitting beside the van. They come out to their tap and fill their kettle.
I do agree to an extent with the OP and Surfer, why not make full use of what you have paid for? The additional kit will last you for many years, and is not that expensive to start with.
With so few serviced pitches on sites, I would say that to book one just to secure a hardstanding could be considered rather selfish. You may well be preventing someone who really does need the benefit of water and waste hook up from being able to book.

becuase they don't want to (for whatever reason), and shouldn't feel forced to do something on holiday they do not want to do.

We don't need to understand why but to accept it's their choice and none of our business.

Write your comments here... I can't speak for anyone else but in my case the surgeon said I should give my knees a rest for a while and my campervan is not designed for a water and waste connection. I am sure others will not bother to explain themselves
and why should they.0 -
Just my two pennyworth, I'm a moderator on a car forum, and text speak is banned!
If you want to guarantee a serviced pitch, you need to book a private sight.
I mainly have to do that as I don't own an Aquaroll or a Wastemaster.

PS, I go on sites with showers, but don't use them, should I be banned from such sites?

..You do not "need"a private site to guarantee a serviced pitch you just have to plan your time away on any site that contains serviced pitches

Perhaps the Motorhomers on the service pitch(shock, horror) ..Don't want the faff of emptying the waste tank on departure..Equally, when laving the M'home on pitch and venturing off site, then perhaps they disconneect the water pipe and turn off their water pump, to save coming back to a flooded motorhome, should anything unfortunate happen whilst out.....Just a thought and opinion...

Wrong. All fully serviced pitches on all CC sites are bookable in advance.

I have some joint issues JKellNN. I think that many who have some difficulty would as soon roll an aquaroll 5 metres to the back of the van and fill and do the same with waste rather than bend down and attach a series of hoses etc. Particularly the case when not all sites/pitches have the facility and and some sites the said pitches are to some less than desirable. I wont carry the extra kit because of the location of some serviced pitches and the fact that usually I only need one fill. If I am feeling fragile (I sometimes do after a few hours towing when the pain killers are wearing off) OH will fetch the one fill we need for a 5 day stay. If we stay longer (rarely) and I book a serviced pitch I can easily top up with a 4 litre bottle on a serviced pitch.
As for booking a serviced pitch to secure hard standing then I have no problem with that. I admit to having done the same on one occasion within the last 200 site stays!
