Autumn Touring
Who's packed up for the winter & who's still 'On Tour'?
Where are you off to ? I don't want the fun to end !
We're still very new to all of this so not sure if Autumn/Winter is gonna be up our street or not

We're off to the Club's Strathclyde Country Park site for a week, driving there this Sunday. We've tickets for Celtic's Champions' Leauge game on Wednesday, and decided to make a week of it.....why not!
Mid October, we're off in the 'van again, to Norfolk. Always a good time of the year for birding there.
We were away, in France / Belgium this summer for 7 weeks, friends say we live in the 'van for longer than we do in the house!

We have a Northumberland and Scotland tour arranged. No packing up for us, we tour all year, usually away every fortnight for a few days. Love being out in the frost and snow, admiring Christmas lights in folks windows, enjoying the festive spirit in lovely
towns and villages, taking in some of the nice places to visit, a lot quieter in the cooler months. Sites and CLs are great in quieter months, and it is lovely being cosy back in tourer after a nice walk with dogs!0 -
Have to much on at home at present, but Notgrove end of October then on to Morn Hill, then to Commons Wood on to Sandringham ,on to Sunny Hunney,to home, then Xmas at Seacroft then nothing booked until Ferry Meadows in Jan 2017,but still time to fill in some more,if things move quicker here

We are still in t shirts and three quarter trews (don't tell Ian!), but have decided to pack some warmer tops and my long cycling trousers, mainly because we are heading North, and it is dropping cooler in evenings at home now. We are on a mission though
not to light our stove until late October at the earliest! Logs are stacked, coal barrel is full, bring it on!0 -

We've been out on our latest tour for 10 days so far in Dumfries & Galloway, and don't expect to get home till the last week in October. Then there's the December/January trip to get sorted out. No such thing for us a putting the van away for winter.

Just arranged what is becoming an annual visit to friends before their site closes (Planning permission restriction) on 21st December. Guess I'll lay the 'van up when we get back ready for the next outing on 22nd January!

We've been to Chatsworth a couple of times in December for the Christmas market and to view the house decorations - very nice, can recommend. This year (I know its the wrong section to mention it) we are going to Fr**ce to see Christmas markets and maybe
stop over at an aire at a certain lake to see various birds.0 -
we usually go away up to about mid Decemeber, we usually don't tour in January, no reason, perhaps still tired after Christmas, but start again in the February. I like the sites during these months, the colours are beautiful, the places less crowded. Nothing
like being toasty warm in the van on the dark nights.. Looking out onto a lovely frosty morning from your window is great too.0 -
This is the time of the year when we see less and less caravans on the road and a huge presence of Motorhomes.
This is due to the fact that motorhomes lend themselves easily to holidaying in less than summer weather.
Coupled with the fact that caravans are losing some of their popularity with those who like to extend their holidaying months so they change their allegience to motorhomes. There will soon be a 50/50 split in ownership of the two.

Have a trip to Cornwall planned for the end of October, then up to the Peak District in December, so no plans to pack the van away just yet.

How does a MH lend itself to holidaying in cooler months? what are the advantages over a caravan?
