Arrival times & Phone AAPs
We booked for a trip to Berwick Seaview site using our on phone app - the arrival time stated was 12:00-14:00hrs. We arrived at 12:05 shortly followed by 5 other visitors. The site office had a notice in the window saying they were not open till 13:00hrs.
Now the site was blocked, (obviously the others read 12:00 on booking confirmation) upon 13:00 the wardens appeared (4) and had a go at us all for not reading the handbook - I love people with attitude. So we all got it wrong then?????/ either the app needs
changing OR all sites should stick to the 12:00 booking it time?. This must cause mayhem on a regular basis???.
By the way the wardens have that site immaculate and once booked in were more friendly. This must cause mayhem on a regular basis???

It's been said before and will be said again. Website says one thing, confirmation email says another, app says something else. 'Party' in a brewery springs to mind.

This has been dicussed before, OP by SteveL I think? There is a mismatch between what is on the booking website page and what is given out on the app and/or handbook. What was written on your confirmation email? It should have been amended by now I would have thought?

Hi all
It's true - hands up.. there are, on some sites, a discrepancy between the usual 12 noon arrival time and the request by the sites to arrive at 1pm (due to narrow access roads). When booking UK sites please always check your confirmation for booking details
and important site info that may have been missed when checking the Directory or on the website/ app such as differing arrival time and directions to site.Glad to hear you had an otherwise good stay js10xxx.
All the best.

12:00pm - 14:00 was written on the in app confirmation as the rest of the people waiting to book in. I use the phone & iPad 95% of the time - so basically if I use the app to book a site I need to read the handbook and double check the email confirmation???

Me again.
You are absolutely right js10xxx - it does conflict and I'm really sorry. Its been addressed and hopefully to be changed/ updated in main website/ app upgrade coming soon. The option to pick arrival time is always 12.00-14.00. The actual earliest arrival
time will be on your confirmation. For 90% of sites its 12.00 but at a handful of sites its 13.00 and, for example, at Edinburgh its 09.00??!Again, I'm sorry for the confusion but hopefully this adds clarity.
Regards,
Helen

As CS correctly put I first flagged this up to the CC both in emails, and on CT at the beginning of June. We made the same error, as our "enjoy your holiday email" received while on tour, stated earliest arrival 12 noon. This was also the case with one we
received several months later, for Grafham Water, although we noticed that one. Clearly over 3 months is not long enough to sort out the problem. It is not really good enough, I know for a certainty, if I had demonstrated such lack of attention to detail when
working, I would have at the very least received a severe kick up the rear.0 -

I am sorry Helen, I know you are only the messenger, but the standard answer we seen to get from the CC lately is that it will be fixed soon. Just what is your definition of soon?

so baically I need to delete the app as, and correct me if im wrong they are designed for speed and convenience?? and I still need to check through emails??
...If only everthing in this modern world was simple,As has been said on numerous posts ,that a check of the site details on or before booking, saves an awfull lot of "negative" posts,
Do people book all their holidays without checking the "small print"

I was under the assumption that the app developers created them to save referencing from different sources? It was booked on the app, the confirmation was read on the app, after explaining this we didnt need the condecending tone which followed - about reading the handbook

The other thing that really needs explaining is, if it is only 10% that are different. Why can't such a small number be dealt with. OK the book can't be changed, until republished but how difficult can it be to change 20 or so sites on the various digital
platforms. Even if it takes resources away from the "soon" to be released upgrade, it needs doing.0 -
JV there should be no need to check the site details or refer to the handbook because all the information should be the same whether it's online or on paper.
The inconsistency is unforgivable
Personally I'd assume that online info was accurate as the handbook goes out of date immediately.

If I get an email when on tour, saying I can arrive at 12 noon, for a site I booked 6 months before. Why would I then dig out all my booking info and cross reference the book (which we don't take with us) the app and the web site.

the same arrival times would be the ideal but there are a few sites where it has been deemed necessary to have a gap between arrivals and departures and there are a couple which are required to accept arrivals earlier. Edinburgh and white water park I think
Making sure the information is accurate and consistent works for me

Write your comments here... EXACTLY our point why cross reference, why not send one of the wardens to either book in or explain this - a note on the window saying 1:00pm booking refer to handbook - the site is in the north england not in Northumberland where
any sensible person would look - or put it in both sections0 -
Best thing to do with a stroppy warden is to ignore them and walk away !!

Modern technology is fantastic but it's only as good as the data that's put into it.
Write your comments here...obviously not enough - I repair industrial robots / lasers / CNC's --- it's not rocket science to input some data or change a program to make changes automatically
