When is a site full?

Just back from St.Davids. Looked at late availability for last week end on 12/9. Showed Fri16/9 35 pitches,Sat 35 and sunday 60. Arrived Thur 15/9 and yes it was quite busy. Wardens advised some pitches out of action (Mostly misuse of Groundshsheets). No
problem still plenty of choice. Notice on return to site evening of Friday -sign saying site full. However we could see some marked empty pitches and this was the same on Saturday.Mass exodus on Sunday am. However on return to site Sunday at 3.45 pm -Site
full sign still up. Plenty of marked pitches to be seen. It was also clear that they expected a lot fewer users as the first thing that happened was that a number of showers, toilets and wash basins were closed!!. Now we pay premium prices but now get inferior
service. I wonder how many non booked vaners used the commercial adjacent site at the week end because the "Full"sign was up on the CC site.With the huge choice of sites in the St Davids area the CC will not be our first choice on our next visit. Does the
club perhaps have a policy to only accept pre booked vists?

    An interesting post and intriguing post? I've never heard of such a policy. Perhaps it's the other way round? The toilets and showers being out of action required no more new arrivals? Not saying this is the case but a possible cause? perhaps the club will answer on here?

    Did you ask the wardens?

    As you had contact wth wardens did you not ask them ,to allay your perseived suspicions? instead of as some seem to do, come on here without knowing the reason, and put an unsubstantiated postUndecided

    We were at Berwick Seaview at the weekend and the site full sign definately meant site full!

    We were at Berwick Seaview at the weekend and the site full sign definately meant site full!

     

    Likewise at Castleton, Derbyshire midweek, last week.

    Perhaps leaving the "site full" sign out was a genuine mistake? It does happen, the Wardens aren't robotic machines, programmed never to fail.

    Maybe the wardens made a mistake and accidently put the 'site full' sign up? Just because tbe site wasn't full all weekend.....these things can happen.

    And maybe they accidently closed off some of the showers and toilets?

    Easy mistake to make.......

    Maybe the warden made these decisions because it's his site and He is the warden, who knows best ......

    To err is human. To really screw up you need a CC computerised booking system. Wink

    I have been to a site which had the site full sign up although it was not. The wardens told us on arrival that there wre travellers in the area and this enabled the wardens to turn them away without causing a problem.

    We were on a site two weeks ago with the other club and after heavy rain most of the grass pitches were waterlogged so thay had the sign up as they did not want to use these pitches and risk damaging them.
