Hi everyone Happy

Have any of you visited Longleat near christmas time when the festival of lights were on? and the santa express?

We are planning on visiting for 3 nights the week before xmas. If anyone has been there, was it worth it? Did you go on the santa express etc? I  have 3 young children so quite excited to be heading there in December (fingers crossed it doesnt rain!)

Yes, we've done it with our son and family. I left it too late to book the Santa express, if you want to go book the train on line as soon as you can. We enjoyed all the other things and I booked an ice skating session. There are good CC discounts for food
and shopping etc. The wardens were very helpful about what was on offer.

We went last year and thought it was great. There are some photos here in the
    Story Section
The advantage of the site is that its only a few minutes walk from the entrance. As Brue mentioned there are worthwhile discounts, look online on the Longleat website where there is a Caravan Club page. There was quite an interesting Chinese
Show which wasn't too long although it might not be suitable for very young children.

thank you both for your replies, I didn't realise there was an ice rink so this will be an added bonus and I will make sure I book tickets early (I think they will be released end of this month).

did you book the skating on arrival and pick a time slot ?

i also had a look at your blog David which was helpful and the photos look beautiful! I need a camera like yours I think! Happy

I booked the skating in advance, it was very popular but is weather dependent.

    Hi Sarah,

We have been for a couple of years now and it is great. Dont forget to download the vouchers from the Longleat website for Caravan Club members, which allows you discount on food and purchases etc.

We did a video on the last 2 years - This one is a long one - so if you have 30mins to waste watch this. Also look for our Longleat 2014 video too.

    Kind regards

    Hi Dan!

brilliant - I shall watch the longleat Videos when I get a chance (when the kids are quiet enough for longer than 5 minutes Sealed)

I recognise your name/face from your YouTube videos ! I have to say, they have been really helpful for me and my husband , I think he particularly liked your solar panel one most recently .

thanks for your reply . We have booked for longleat this year now so looking forward to that and we will be sure to download the vouchers for discount.

Went last year and stayed on the CC site - brilliant weekend.

Make sure yuo book the santa express, and the ice rink prior to arrival and use the discount entry ticket option via the cc offer.

The house itself is also open during the evening and dressed amazingly and had actors in certain rooms doing charactor stuff - kids were in awe of it, and the adults in awe of the house.

Its a little commercial these days, but having a costa as you walk around was actually nice.

Also check the route in - the sat nav will try and take you down a REALLY narrow road but the next one isnt as bad.  That was eventful in the dark :-)

Good couple of pubs a short drive away that do good food and family friendly too.
