Crossways site has taken about 8 pitches away from caravans/MotorHome to be used for tents ,we were there last week for 7 days and not 1 pitch was used ,but the site was fully booked for some of that time ,so ,are these tent pitches taking pitches away from
caravan/MotorHomes and therefor income for the club,

My question is ,where are the CC trying to pitch it self in the market ,does it want to be a Caravan/MotorHome club or copy the C&CC

P.S, I have nothing against tent campers , but I wouldn't expect to play tennis at a golf club.........

Yes ,they had EHU ,they had set aside the first area of the site as you go in,that had been normal pitches last year therefor reducing the total number of pitches available to caravans/Motorhomes

Sounds like a very silly move to me.  Not keen on the CC increasing tent pitches generally (or space being used for Pods etc) but I can see the argument that they can use areas not suitable for caravans. In this case where caravan pitches have been sacrificed
it seems to be a very bad idea.

    Agree entirely, BMB.

Putting aside the fact that we joined a Caravan Club, what sort of business would have 8 pitches stood empty on an otgerwise fully booked site in peak season, on the off-chance that a load of tenters would show up?

Is this some sort of 'political correctness' gone barmy.....?

Forty sites plus now have tent pitches, I can't see a problem if this generally attracts more people to CC sites. Crossways isn't full all of the time, take a look at the vacancies over the next few weeks. If it doesn't work nothing has been lost has it, the pitches are still there. Smile

Husky says the site was fully booked, but these pitches reserved for tents were empty. So potential income was lost.

    How does that make sense?

Also, the fact that mistakes have been repeated across 40 sites does not make it any less of a mistake. Quite the opposite, in fact.

what was said when motorhomes suddenly arrived and provisions at a huge cost had to be made to facilitate them to the CC.

Perhaps CC Ltd should designate and sell a certain number of grass pitches as available for tents, caravans or motorhomes, etc.  That way there is a fair possibility of all the pitches being sold.

Of course.  Everywhere I go a pitch is a pitch and anyone can use it.

Is it cheaper for a non member using a tent pitch than for a member using a caravan?

And a tent is likely to use more electricity as they have no gas and will be using it for everything including possibly heating a tent which is very ineffiecient in terms of insulation.

Presumably Tent users pay a non-member surcharge? I logged out of CC but could still not find details of tent pitch costs whether logged in or not

We have stayed at this site a few times and the area for tents the Warren does get very wet after heavy rainfall and does not drain well. As to the prices ie. just under £20.00 for a pitch at this of year for pitch and 2 adults is to expensive, we used to
camp many years ago and stayed in north Devon for a week for £11.00 those were the days.

Agree with some of the posts as we joined the Caravan Club and did join the CC&C for a short while but not for us as we say each to their own!

Also Hunters Moon also take tents and that is a member only site.

    CC doesn't half hide stuff.

Yep found it. At first glance it would seem almost £5 cheaper for a non member couple using a large tent than for a member using a caravan with possibly less floor area.

    Seems daft to me

The differential must vary from site to site. Our son joined us at Morvich in May. At that time a couple in a tent with electric (although only 1 of 11 pitches had it) would have paid £20.9. Exactly the same as we paid for our caravan pitch. As he was on his own on non EHU the charge ( non member ) was £12.10. For two it would have been £19.70. So in the case of two non members on a non EHU tent pitch they would seem to be paying a suppliment, as the standard charge for a non EHU pitch, for a member, is £14. In all other cases they seem to be paying the same or less.

Going for a lie down now my brain hurts.
