Four weeks to go and really looking forward to our stay at Pembrey. Anyone been there lately? Good tips on places to visit there, good pubs etc?  We've never been to that part of Wales before so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Pembrey is a superb site and is local to us.

The big attraction is the adjacent country park.  If you're into walking you have miles and miles of it on your doorstep.

The WWT Centre (Wildfowl and Wetlands) at Llanelli is worth a visit, only a few minutes away. Also the National Botanic Gardens are within easy travelling distance. Laugharne is lovely for a walk, park up near the castle and see where Dylan Thomas lived
along the estuary. But as scarletsfan says the country park has plenty to offer, take your bikes if you cycle, the local cycle routes are very good too.

You'll find plenty of retail therapy at Parc Trostre in Llanelli.

If you like quieter beaches - take the road out of the site and go immediately right wind on down there a couple of miles thinking you are going to run out of road - when you do run out of road park up and follow the sand track - much quieter and free to
    park unlike the Park itself.

    Hi Geoff

I'm a big fan of this part of the world.

Be sure to head around the estuary onto the Gower Peninsular that must be one of the most beautiful, unspoilt places in the country (the UKs first ever AOONB infact).

Fantastic walks and beaches, in my opinion the best being Three Cliffs Bay, Caswell and the epic Rhossili. There is a quaint cafe on the headland and a great walk at low tide out to Worms Head (do check tide times before heading out!)

There's a great pub on the way back around the north coast in Llanmadoc called The Brittania and a little further on down the hill and if homemade pottery is your thing into Cheriton is the studio of Micki Schloessingk which is well worth a stop and look
    around this beautiful setting.

The Mumbles is worth a wander if you are over that side.

Back on Pembrey side of the estuary Kidwelly and the castle is worth a visit.

    Have fun!

    Helen
