We stayed in july for 5 nights. Not intrested in bar, pool etc but not a bad location. Although we didn't want the restraunt the menu looked reasonable and I thought that if anyone wanted the additional facilities then it was not badly priced at that time

I think it's a good site too Karen, we have short breaks there throughout the season. Although there is a social complex it's contained in a pleasant walled off courtyard area and doesn't take up too much of the site, the shop is very useful too. As you say the pool is lovely, I've used it when it's open early and late in the year and virtually had the water to myself. Hope to go back after the school holidays, it's often busy even in September but we've enjoyed some lovely pitches with sea views.

We had an excellent stay there last summer, spoilt only by a few moaning members who failed to appreciate that it is a holiday park.

yes its a holiday park you will get some noise and children playing thats what its all about

If you turn left and follow road to lower end of the site , near lower toilet block the views over Torbay are wonder full , no noise and few children , none out of school holidays ,and still easy reach of bar and restaurant also shop for most essential bits

Also been to Hillhead and apart from some of the pitches which were awful it was a good site.Great area also.

Ha Ha, just returned and pitched where you talked about.... no children, quiet, are you joking! Well we did go in school holidays so must expect it. Took our granddaughters, as I said if you go then must expect kids etc. The only thing I would say is that
in the peak school holidays I think the adult swimming time could be reduced to one hour.0 -

Hi Karen,
I see you mentioned a chldrens entertainment hour each night, do you know if this is running all the way through the school holidays? Also, what time did it start each night? We are heading to hill head at th end of this month so it would be good to get
a feel as to what the kids can expect. I have 3 kids, aged 8,4, and 2 .This is Sarah by the way, I know my husband has posted a question above about the pitches at hill head- he is away with work , i really need my own screen name ha.

Danwestgate - We have been to Hillhead many times, just returned. Yes you will need levelling blocks, we have never used them before but def needed them at this site, even with them van sloped. Usually full in school hols so have to take the pitch you can
get and many are on the slope. Young kids entertainment starts at 7pm, bingo at 8, then the evening entertainment. Kids can take inflatables into the pool at certain times of the day, Seperate shallow pool for the little ones. Playground can get a little noisy
some evenings if you are pitched nearby and trying to get little one to sleep. Hope this helps.0 -

Its probably a good idea to have some for Hillhead. For me the main reason is that Hillhead is not your normal CC site which are usually nice and flat in most cases and well laid out.Hillhead is an ex commercial site and it shows in the size and accessability
of some of the pitches. The whole site is on one big slope as i remember. When we were there we had an area which could take four vans but it was raised up and access was via a gap just about wide enough for a van and up a short but steep slope. Now without a
4x4 and a motor mover i would have genuinely struggled too pitch the van.Haveing said all that its a very good family site in a very nice part of Devon.peter.
