hi all - if I have a booking for 10 nights on one site  but for 2 of these nights would be elsewhere to attend a family event. If I explain this on check in should I be able to reduce my Fees for the number of adults for those  2 nights only?

Removing the van wouldn't be an option.

thanks

    Hi Rusty,

Are you talking about a CC site?  If so, we've done similar in the past and paid the pitch fee only for the nights we were off site.

If one of you remains on site then yes you can pay for the number of adults left on site for that period.

If you're all going off site, you might be asked to unplug your electric cable which could be a problem if you have food in your fridge. Have a chat to the warden.

    Hi yes a CC site.

I have it booked on a single 10 day booking for 2 adults and 2 kids - I wouldn't normally mind a few quid buts it's an expensive site and the difference is £25 a night!

I dont want to go in and amend the booking into 3 separate ones as he site is full and someone might sneak in and book iT whilst I am making the changes.

Leave your booking as is rather than risk losing it but tell the wardens on arrival that you just need to pay the pitch fee for the two nights you're not on site.

Has anybody ever been asked/told to disconnect electricity when leaving the van unattended for a couple of nights? I don't think that I would be happy to do that. Pitch fee covers EHU I thought?

We were asked to unplug ours EasyT.  This was at Clumber Park about two years ago when we were going to be off site for two nights.

We have never been asked to unplug the electric and I think it is a pitch and one person to leave the van

I think that if it was likely that I would be requested to disconnect EHU I would say that the occupancy would be one adult as I and car would be off site. Of course OH would come wth me :)

I enquired on 'Live Chat' and was told that the policy is that the charge is pitch fee plus one adult and that one would be asked to disconect EHU.

As permission is not required for less than 48 hours if it was OH and I we would simply leave the van for the two days and pay the extra adult (i.e. two adults) and no - we would not disconnect EHU. Disconnecting EHU is a safety precaution against fire.
IMO however whether we are away for two nights or not would not alter the liklihood of a fire.

I would check your insurance. The policy will be based on storage at a given address with a time limit if left elsewhere. I think two nights will be allowed but you need to check your policy.
