Yellowcraig CC Site
Hi
We are booked to go to the above site for a long weekend in September. We have never been to it before so I was just wondering if anyone can recommend any interesting places nearby for us to visit. Also is there a pub within walking distance of the site
and is it close to any nice cycle routes just so I know whether it is worth us taking our bikes.
Many Thanks

You will be spoilt for chance! Fantastic location, lots to do very close by. Beach walk direct from site up to North Berwick is nice in good weather. NB is a lovely little town, has Scottish Seabird Centre on sea front, very interesting. Some nice eateries, fish and chip restaurant, lovely gift shops. Leisure Centre for indoor swimming. If you like castles, then visit Dirleton, which is just up from site, Tantallon which is past NB on dramatic coast headland. Hailes Castle is below Traprain Law, and great for a picnic! You can walk up Berwick Law as well if feeling energetic. There is Museum of Flight inland, well worth a visit. Easy to get into Edinburgh on local train line from NB and other stations. Haddington is another nice little Scottish town, not far away. Pub in Dirleton village is nice. About half mile from site. We love this area, spent lots of time here on CLs and in cottages. Check out school holidays, site gets very busy at these times. Enjoy!
edit: site to NB is possible on cycles, although road can be busy.

Hi
Thanks for the reply it seems like we will have plenty to do. We are only there for 3 nights so might have to go back some time to see everything. We are only a 2 hour drive away from here so if we like it we will be able to visit again. We have been trying
to visit this site for years and never got round to it so glad we found time nowThanks

It's lovely when it is not too busy, ghastly in peak season! But that's just us, we hate busy places!
Got a lovely seaside feel. Beach is a short stroll, beautiful bit of a Firth of Forth, islands off shore teeming with birds. I can't recall if you have a dog, but with or without a very nice site. Make sure you go into NB, it is a lovely town.

The aircraft museum at East Fortune is a great day out if aircraft interest you. There is a very large selection of planes including Concord which you can enter.
The Royal Yacht Britania at Leith is well worth a visit and the rest of Edinburgh has a vast selection of things to see but a lot depends on your interests.
