Hastings Club Site - buses and walks
Never been to this site before and would welcome any tips for buses and walks nearby. We prefer to leave our van on site and explore by public transport or footpaths, would this site be good for those - eg do the buses only go to Hastings or can we go to
Rye too? Thanks for any help, we like to make the most of our visits!

If it is FW the bus only goes into Hastings or Pett Level from outside the butchers on Pett Road. If you want to go into Rye you have to walk up to Icklesham. We did that from FW then walked back along the coast. Also a nice walk back from Hastings, cliff lift takes the sting out of the first bit, but still plenty of up and down on the coast path, before striking inland.

Yes I think the OP means Fairlight Wood.Whilst I cannot help at all about public transport, there is a walk to the shingle beach at Pett Levels. There is an excellent pub near the site, plus a very good pub on the way to Pett Levels. I think you have to walk on the road but never seemed busy, but there is a very big hill on the way back.
Pett is quite unspoilt actually with a cafe type bar on the seafront. There is the house on the seafront which featured on Grand Designs.
The old part of Hastings is worth a stroll around.Rye is lovely.

There is no longer a stop shown alongside the butchers shop on Google. It's a few years since we have been and I think that was the case last time, as I seem to remember asking at the butchers if it still stopped there, and it did. So worth asking the question.

Fairlight Wood, there is a nice stroll to the local pub through the woods on the site. Just outside the site there are larger woods for longer walks. Also plenty of coastal walks towards Rye and around Rye itself. (Unless the OP means the site at Battle?)

I do find it odd when folk ask a question and then don't come back to follow it up. However, the forum is well known for how easy it is to use and it may be that the OP has been unable to find their thread again. So this will push it back to the top,
where perhaps they will see it.0
