Advice - Half way stopover to Cornwall
Having just bought our new caravan, we are off to Cornwall in a fortnight. Travelling from north Essex with a 7 & 8 year and we are looking for a recommended stop over. Roughly around Somerset off the M5, Weston-Supermare part of the world, rather than attempting
it all in one day.
Any advice / reviews on sites would be great.
Thanks in advance

Cadeside Club site. Just off the Motorway
Good shops, pub and cheap fuel nearby. (5 Mins in car, but not walking distance afrer a long drive) Also Chelston Motorcaravans nearby to buy any accessory that you many have left behind. (We all do it!)

I agree with Fysherman and have used Cadeside many a time. It's a small site and regularly gets fully booked.
The Minnows AS near Tiverton, Devon isn't much further west and is also within very easy reach of the M5.
Another alternative is to pick a CL from the many close to the motorway between Weston-s-Mare and Bridgwater.

And with two young children you may want a toilet and shower block - which Cadeside doesn't have.

Cheddar would be close its a nice site , off at jun 22 then about 15 mins , but it can be tight through town & entrance/ exit would be a challenge for a beginner

True ET but for a stop over?
I remember a ten year old in the top bunk who leaned over the side and was sick on a six year old with long hair in the bottom bunk - so shower black yes, to hose her down and start washing bed clothes. Happy days. And shower block with children was always

Cheddar is a fair way from the M5, Compass. Others are more convenient.

Both great sites. Cadeside only has 18 (?) pitches from memnory. I used many none facility sites with the kids but that was in the day when many did .... I still use them happily. To digress I remember when Bunree and Cae Mawr were both still none facility
and, in my opinion all the better for that.0 -
Living in Devon and usually travelling north, we often choose to stop off at Hurn Lane for a night, nice site, with a shower block and you can usually get in at fairly short notice.
The only trouble with Hurn Lane at Burnham is that you can sometimes get caught up in heavy traffic when rejoining the motorway. It depends on the time of day, of course.

I think Cae Mawr still is non facility, isn't it?

I think that's a good one too, especially as the OP will have travelled from Essex with busy roads at this time of the year. Easy for an early start to travel further south.

If that's considered a challenge then maybe they shouldn't be towing.
