Hotel stop over with caravan
I guess this may be blasphemy but Im spending 2 weeks in Devon/Cornwall with the kids in August staying at Hillhead and a non CC site. I live north of Nottingham and the drive from Bude to there is not to be contemplated for me in one day with the young
uns. As I will have a fully loaded van with awning etc I would prefer if I could to stay at a hotel overnight just south of Bristol, rather than a single night either on a site of a service station.
Thinking of security for the van, have others done this?

I'd also suggest looking for a CL - I'm not sure I'd be very relaxed with the van parked up outside of a hotel. If you don't want the faff of unloading and setting up the van, I think there was a thread somewhere under CLs asking for advice about CLs which
also did b&b. Might be worth thinking about?0 -
We did it once when going to France fully loaded with bikes etc....we too found a nice corner spot with car parked in front....must admit to not the best nights sleep thinking about it but it and we survived and would do it again, would check with hotel
1st though re:space and parking.0 -
CL with B&B sounds like a good idea.

There are loads of CLs south of Bristol in the Weston to Bridgwater area.

Rusty, I used to break up my journey to SW when I was taking my elderly parents on holiday. We found Riverside House in Cirencester, and used it a few times, always pleased with the basic but clean B and B set up. It is the Colt Cars Training and meeting
centre, but lets out rooms to the public as well. The plus side is that the big car park has barriers and a security person on all night, so your caravan would be safe. The breakfasts were also very nice as well! Not sure if it would suit you, but take a look
at the website.0 -
Have you considered Cadeside Club site at Wellington, a low facillity site. If your problem is the clutter inside the caravan which you do not want to dump outside for a night top, a little further down the A38 from Cadeside is the Poachers Pocket Hotel
which also has a CL. You should have no porblem parking your outfit there and staying in the hotel.peedee

The reason we stayed overnight in a hotel, was because we were on our way back from a holiday, but OH (the driver) took ill, and hadn't the strength to put up the folding camper, and it was a real nightmare on the motorways - seems there were accidents ringing
the north-west of England - so we gave up and got a room. OH was a bit better next morning, but not much0
