A member asked about access to this site through Grange village.

Last week we caught a local bus which went through this village to Keswick. As it traversed this village it scraped along a hedge, scratching the windows, in order to squeeze past the parked cars. Hope this helps (or not depending on the reply you were hoping
for)

thanks, so not changed then. I know this area very well and its always been a problem. Thing is although you can squeeze through unlike buses we are bothered about scratching our sides

Thanks for the heads up, we were planning to call in at Borrowdale in a couple of weeks time, but are re-thinking this now.  Will probably cancel and pay a visit next year instead well before the summer tourist season.

We have used Borrowdale/Manesty site for many years, and over the last approx. five years t he situation with respect to parking in Grange has become worse making access to the site difficult and 'expensive' if damage to caravan / motorhome occurs. Many
years ago when the Honister Rambler first started the same situation existed at the other end of dewentwater around the start of the Catbells walk and this was erradicated by DOUBLE YELLOW LINES on all the approach roads to the walk The same is required through
the short section of Grange . It is time the CC got together with Stagecoach to put pressure on the authorities to make this happen.

Well it has put me off. Having caused £500 worth of damage on our previous van on an unexpectedly narrow approach, I am a bit more cautious about what I will tackle.

The whole route along the east shore of Derwentwater is a bit tricky, vehicles coming the other way are often over the centre white line because the road is narrow, and travelling too fast. If you have a hedge or wall to your left you have nowhere to get
    out of their way........

One of our favourite sites ....because of challenging  access issues and no toilet block it's ideal. Been there many times. Care and confidence needed. Always worth it.

If only they would put in a toilet block, we'd give it a try.......oh, and if they reduce their prices for CC sites.......

Write your comments here...Just had a 10 day trip to the area. CC site price, over £22 a night. Local CL £11.50. Guess which one I chose?

We are regulars to this area, but this site is not for us. Apart from the fact it doesn't have a toilet block, it's just too overshadowed by the trees. We've walked past and rode on the bus back to Keswick - very tight!
