We stick to short mid week stays at this time of year on Cls at about £12 so can be away 120/150 nights per year. Use extensively the commercial offers off peak including Haven at £10/12 per night and we find CC even too expensive at those times now.Too
busy guiding and fishing anyway at this time of year. You take your pick and caravan as you like it. Fyshing you find much better fishing at the next estate East and if you ask the stalker nicely you get free parking overnight.

No I don't think it has become all about pricing TT. Price for us personally is a factor, finding quiet locations away from lots of people is another. Therefore we don't do overpriced busy locations, whether they are Club or not. Space and good walking are
    other factors.

Pricing (within reason) has no bearing for us, dogs welfare is taken into consideration so location comes high on the list for her and for us. Love CL's, remoteness and walking. But we have not noticed a fall in units on the sites we have visited this year, but maybe the variable weather is leading people to make other plans.

our five van site is full tonight. We researched having electric installed but the cost was frightening so we recently decided to try to make it one of the best back to basic sites without elec theory being that in the near future many new young campers will be looking at eco friendly solar energy etc. So much landscaping and general tidying with recycle bins enclosure and paddock fences etc. We hope that we can attract a new generation of campers and five pitches full in not good summer weather is encouraging.

what are people's thoughts on my theory

Seems to be working for you. Best of luck and I hope it continues to be full.

Interesting thread this. I run a well known club site in the west of Cornwall. As usual we are completely full from Whitsun bank holiday until late September but this summer there seem to be less children on site. There are two commercial sites less than
a mile down the road and they are full too even though they are both far more expensive than here. The CL's I stay on regularly on my days off are experiencing a slight downturn in business, not sure why.

As motorhomes become much more popular, there will be many who are avoiding campsites and parking up for free all over the country.

May be a reason why sites, particularly those not in urban areas, are not fully subscribed.

Apart from the honey pot sites  I have never ever seen any site apart from weekends, "fully subscribed" that I would think is the same throughout the whole industry

Surely the honey pot sites vary a little with the season. Those on the coast may not be particularly popular in the colder weather, when York or Chatsworth might be difficult to get into. However, in the summer school holidays could be considered a honey
    pot.

I think everyone must be doing Route 500, judging by the number of motorhomes/campers out and about. Spent June over on the west coast nr Poolewe at real real hidy hole, not advertised or marketed site. Full most days. August, goin to the Isle of Lewis.
Ferry on my chosen days, FULL. (changed day of travel and a re-route). I'll come back with how busy the camp site is when I've been. I think it will be busy, despite a not too glorious weather forcast.

Just got back from Englethwaite Hall. Arrived Monday and the site was about half full. It got very quiet during the week but yesterday (Friday) the section we were in filled up nicely, whether they'll be gone by Sunday afternoon I won't know.

There seems to be something wrong with the Late Availablity listing. The site we're on showed 5 empty pitches last night and none tonight. In reality there were 8 empty pitches last night and at least 5 tonight. On this site this equates to nearly 1/4 of
it's capacity!! Is this because certain members are not turning up, or that the system is carrying spare capacity for the occassional "off the roader"?
