What is a seasonal pitch?
Hello... am a newbie to all this - what is a seasonal pitch, ie, I can see that it is for a set period but once you have paid for that period, other than electric perhaps, are there any other costs? Also, are there limits to how much it can be used during that season?

on club sites a seasonal pitch is for a specfied amount of time, sometimes September to January, March to October, it is different for diferent sites. There is no extra cost for EHU, and the caravan or MH stays on the pitch allocated to you during that time, but you may take it off if you wish for a 'holiday'. You yourself however can only stay in the van for a max of 21 consectutive days then you have to leave for one night then come back and have another 21 days and so on. You normally put away the aquaroll/wastemaster, but some sites allow you to keep the EHU

We had a few in the past and it was very useful at weekends and you left after work whatever time you liked, and sometimes even left early Monday morning. No towing of course but you are 'stuck' with that site.

On club sites it's pretty much as cornersteady describes above except that after 21 nights on site you have to go off site for 48 hours.You may be asked to move pitch during the season for mainainance etc. All the info you need is on the website.
Seasonal pitches can work out cheaper than tourers but you're obviously tied to that particular site.

just to be clear, you are not actually tied to that particular site apart from by 'purse strings' maybe! You can take your van off for touring holidays elsewhere, but you will have to bear the cost of those additional sites visited and your seasonal pitch. Several of our friends have had seasonal pitches and have even had that annual summer holiday on the continent and then returned to their seasonal pitch.

Thank you for that. I am also to understand I think, that with the Caravan Club, it is done through their HQ and not direct with the sites? Expect its different for other sites not part of the Caravan Club .... #steep learning curve for me this. So could

You need to wait until the availability is released, AL, and I can't remember when that is. the link supplied above by Corners shows what was on offer this year. There may still be part seasonals available from Sept if that suits. You could ring and enquire. Bookings are handled by HQ because not all sites are open at the time you would need to book.

on the link I provided there are some till March 2017. I think details of the 2017 pitches come in the October/November club magazine. You could always give the club a ring.

One more silly question perhaps, or at least will be silly to those who know the answers; are all bookings a per night charge or do some/all offer weekly etc charges with a discount for multiple nights?

AL, there are some CC sites that do late season seasonal pitches, such as Yellowcraig, which may well not be filled.
As for discounts....there are sites which give mid week discounts during the low and mid seasons. You can find these listed in the site directory, and the dates to which the discounts apply.
