I think we will now be treating staying on CC sites rather like we treat eating M&S food.......

Nice to do now and again,  but too expensive for everyday.

    Convenient and reliable.

The main difference being that M&S often have good special offers like 3 for 2, buy 1 get second half price, and 2 or 3 for (a varying amount).

Discounts on Club sites are small in comparison.

well except a lot of people do use them every time. (M&S and club sites) they go away.

Also there are quite some significant discounts see here:

    http://www.caravanclub.co.uk/uk-holidays/special-offers

The kids for a pound is good (if you have children) as the club classes children up to and including 17, where as non club sites it can be as low as 13 and then I've seen prices as high as £5 per child. There are also a good number of 50% midweek discounts
    out of peak times.

I can't help thinking that midweek discounts are weekend increases in a different form.

Children are now 46 and 31, so that discount is no use to us.  When the kids came with us the child price stopped at a lower age too.

Midweek discounts.......none in June or September, which are not really peak times.......only on certain sites (we used one in April), and a half price pitch fee will save only something like £3 on an £18 stay.

    Not exactly a huge saving.

when you look through the prices for club sites (and anybody elses for that matter)provision is made for different times of the year, additional fees are applied for non members, etc why is there not a reduction for senior citizens, disabled etc you will
find these concessions in most other places, why not on camp sites?

Any discount has to be recouped elsewhere. Personally, I've no wish for younger people to subsidise my vanning now I'm older.

Write your comments here...i agree nobody wishes to impose penalties on anyone else but remember pitches will be empty out of season so there should be no reason to recoup money through other means more people on site should be sufficent to cover this better
to have more income out of season surely than none at all

I  would not want any more of discount than i get by going away most of the time at lower than peak time prices, as has been said by numerous financial "experts" we of the "older"generation are mostly in the position of having the most disposible money

Over night 24hr secure car parking in the city centre of York will cost you about £20. Rowntree Park CC is not a great deal more and you get to 'park' your awning, car and have access to showers and toilets, and be able to sleep there too!

Happy Just got to get booked on mind!

    Exactly Nicko.

Unfortunately that is lost on some people on here......and it tends to be mainly lost on those who have never worked in a commercial environment or understand the realities of how a business should operate.......and I include CC management in that.

Give all those discounts and you will need to increase the price to any group you have left out to cover it. The whole thing would get too complex and as a members club all should be treated equally. Discounts favour those selected at the expense of the
    rest.

If you read recent reports in the June mag you'd know that the CC is looking ahead and thinking of changes. Apparently quite a few people want more Hillhead type sites. Hillhead is an example of a site with a leisure complex that doesn't spill out all over
the site and if younger families want more of this I expect the CC will already be thinking about it. I'm a fan of small non fac sites and I hope the balance of choice will stay.
The Hillhead sites come at a price for those that want it.

It also come at a price for those that don't want it too. The cost of 1 Hillhead would probably be the same as for 2 or 3 standard club sites. Surely more sites, with a greater number of pitches, is the way to go, and not over priced all singing all dancing
    sites

Seacroft in Norfolk is smaller but similar to Hillhead, and very popular, but when we were there a couple of weeks ago the site was very busy, but clubhouse/pool not,   so people (inc us) went to the site for where it was ,not for anything else

    Exactly my point, WW.

I don't think discounts to OAPs and likely to encourage them to go away at off peak times any more than they do already. Rather it would make them look at dearer times when sites are already full. It could be counter productive.

Not at all. Everyone is paying the going rate and not getting any extra, or special, discount.

Ah, there's the rub, Nicko! Some commercial sites do offer fantastic cheap deals when families can't take advantage of them ... and then whack on the prices in peak season/school holidays. So yes, those families do subsidise the special off peak offers.
The CC price structure, for all its perceived faults, does at least offer an alternative; prices are slightly higher in peak (and yes, they may have more "peak" dates than before) but not to the same degree as those commercials, particularly in the sort of
holiday hotspot areas families are drawn  to.
