I wonder if BB tried shopping (or wearing) other cheaper shoe shops and shoes? so as to quote:
not commenting from a one view perspective as some are
Or even ask Clarkes to reduce their prices are there were other cheaper shoes on the market that did the job just as well?
Write your comments here...You should try our local Clarks Village www.clarksvillage.co.uk Corners, reduced prices are very attractive round here!

BB, take your ex employer, who'd have thought an overpriced shoe company would be still around almost 200yrs later?. It's a successful business & has evolved to give its customers what they want, not only engendering loyalty but picking up new customers for nearly 2 centuries, CC have done the same. They are both still around, I'd hardly call Clarks 'glacial'.

Write your comments here...As a fan of Clarkes shoes I would never contemplate going to a standard high street shop and paying the full price for them.
We have an excellent Clarkes reduced price shop at our local Mcarthur Glen retail outet.
So if you are trying to draw some kind of parallel between CC sites and Clarkes shoes , you would need to quote where you are able to get the identical quality product (site) at the same period of the year for 20 to.25 % reduction.
I think possibly you need to find a different example.

Likewise the CC offer bargain sites, no doubt it would be great to have more but at least some are available.
Write your comments here...thanks Brue I agree ---, but from what I gather, those bargain sites are an alleged lower standard product.

The example referred to evolution and continuation of the businesses, K, and not to bargain hunting.

agree, also the club does do offers on children and certain off peak sites

mmm, a good evasive answer as expected from you, but it doesn't really answer my point why you keep on using a club and Ct that you consider so poor? (as evidenced by your constant stream of possible improvements)
It seems it not possible here to express an opinion on any aspect of club sites unless its fulsome praise. BB and others are derided for continuing to use the sites in spite of their reservations and others like me get attacked for passing a comment
about my rare visits .Write your comments here...Excellent observation AD Spot on

Anyone can post whatever they wish on CT but there is something incongrous when someone who posts a stream of complaints and the possible improvements the club should make
and then still carries on using said club sites is worthy of comment. If i didn't like something I don't use it.0 -

We have friends down that way, visit every 2-3 years, I always "stock up" on shoes.

Surfer, the bottom line is-they're a business, their 1st priority is survival followed by expansion & further profit to fund ongoing plans/models. Whilst the business is well supported & successful they will continue with that business model. For every disgruntled member they have countless thousands of happy customers. When that trend reverses they will listen. They are mining a rich seam-why move away from it. The Billy Butlin/smiley face/hand shaking model died many years ago with the failing of the business model. Evolve or die-CC are evolving.
...True in the eyes of the vast majority of users of both clubs ,but then there are always a few who nothing that either of the clubs do will satisfy their ideas that they are not VFM, although any profit is ploughed back into trying to cater for the ever more unable to do anything themselves society, and increase both the clubs porfolio of sites to cater for the shortfall in capacity that is it seems a problem in some areas, because more and more are taking up the "hobby" and doing "staycations"

I think we will now be treating staying on CC sites rather like we treat eating M&S food.......
Nice to do now and again, but too expensive for everyday.
Convenient and reliable.
The main difference being that M&S often have good special offers like 3 for 2, buy 1 get second half price, and 2 or 3 for (a varying amount).
Discounts on Club sites are small in comparison.

BB, for example, is not saying he does not actually like Club sites, only that they are, in his opinion, expensive for what they offer. He uses them when they suit his purpose.
The 2 are not mutually exclusive.

I don't think you can say it is odd to use a CC site, just because you don't think it the best, or think the price is excessive. People do this all the time with shops, rather than drive miles to a place they like, they will pay over the odds and shop locally. Same with a site, it may be the only one in that locality. Take Baltic Wharf for example. Not many others to choose from in the centre of Bristol.

If i didn't like something I don't use it.Well I cant quite understand your reply and to be likened to Nicoli Macheavelli is a new one on me, when I read the Prince I didn’t see any circumstances where his political theories would have been applicable to discussions about Caravan Club sites.
In simple terms these posts go like this.
I didn’t like some aspect of a site/ management /price.
Answer: if the complaint comes from a regular user: well take your business elsewhere because thousands like it just as it is.
or
If the complaint or observation comes from an infrequent user: what do you know about it anyway?
I take your points

well except a lot of people do use them every time. (M&S and club sites) they go away.
Also there are quite some significant discounts see here:
http://www.caravanclub.co.uk/uk-holidays/special-offers
The kids for a pound is good (if you have children) as the club classes children up to and including 17, where as non club sites it can be as low as 13 and then I've seen prices as high as £5 per child. There are also a good number of 50% midweek discounts out of peak times.

Some people ( including my son) believe that M&S and the Caravan are upper class whilst others, including me, think whilst that may have been the case 20 years ago now they are nothing special and simply overpriced
