Going back to the little darlings, Midges, use Avon Skin so Soft, and stray the dogs. We have stayed in the Arisaig area alot and you really do need to be prepared for them. The area is wonderful. I always tow from Dumfries up the side of Loch Lomond to
Arisaig without overnight stop. There is the site at Luss direct on the Loch. Enjoy.0 -

We'll be travelling from south Cumbria, so a considerably longer journey than you. We know from previous experience that it takes 4 hours (with a short stop) from home to Stirling. We may have done the journey to Arisaig in one go when we were younger
.... but not now0 -
Cairn Lodge is ok too, run by the Tebay group near Douglas in Lanarks, just off the M74.
Hadn't heard of that one before brue ...... Tebay services are excellent, as are Gloucester. We stopped at Gloucester (south) en-route to Somerset in June.

I was going to sugest the truck stop at Lesmahagow ---but it's no longer there. Just looked on google it's now aTesco's, on the bright side it could be very handy for fuel as it's just off the motorway junction. Or even a quick tea break combined if not to busy.
Not exactly what you asked but could be a handy fuel stop for others.
