yes I think your right about tents and generally more grass.

I am unlike you a grumpy old git nd freely admit that the cc now has nor going for it for ne due to greatly reduced numbers of screaming children

You are probably right spk, I see far more families on C & CC sites, no doubt the much bigger mixture of tents and vans is the reason. There is often more grassy green space for children to use as play areas. I'm happy seeing families, I will really feel old if I start getting grumpy about children playing! Happy

Thank  Heaven  for  that  line,  Brue  !!  I  was  beginning  to  think  I  ought  to  go  &  see  a  shrink  for  a  moment!

I'd  much  rather  my  snoozes  were  broken  by  the  sound  of  children  laughing  &  playing  happily,  than  the  clatter  of  bottles  going  into  the  recycle  bins!

When I had a campervan I was in the c&cc and saw more kids at their sites than I do at CC sites.  Plenty of kids at independent sites as well.

half term at Chatsworth last year there were lots of kids.

I agree with KeefySher the commercial sites are cheaper and not just in school holidays but weekends. I am an orgainsed camper so when I get more time I will post up some of the
    costs like they did.

For us another plus of CC sites is that you can book and cancel within 72 hours (we cancel with weeks of notice) as one of us is self employed so if work comes up we can't caravan. I'm sure that comment will also draw negativity but if you follow the rules
and cancel with lots of notice I don't think its unacceptable.

We store our van at a CC&C site but have not stayed at one, given the feedback here we will definately try thoes sites too.
