just been told by warden at Blackpool site you are not

allowed to walk around the site with your dog on a lead.

you can only walk your dog from your caravan to the exit and back . Told these are the caravan club rules.

Anyone out there been told this on any site.

I thought it was common knowledge that dogs should be exercised off site or in dedicated areas.

Yes, but exercising your dog off site and just walking round the site ( or taking the long way back to your van) are two different things .

so do the rules state that you should take the shortest route to the exit possible ??

So are we not allowed an evening stroll round the site with the dogs any more? Seems an awful shame if that's the case; it's a nice way to end the day stopping for a chat with fellow vanners on the way round! Sad

    Not  a dog owner but seems a bit excessive? I've often seen fellow campers walking their dogs aroung the site, I've no problem at all. Where is this rule by the way? I've only found;

    11 Dogs and other pets

    a. You are responsible for your pet's behaviour. You must make sure your pet is under control at all times; dogs must be kept on a secure lead no more than 3 metres long.

    b. We know accidents can't always be avoided, but in the event of fouling on your pitch please clean up quickly and use the dog bins provided. Please also follow this practice elsewhere on the site and when using the dog walks.

    c. Only guide or assistance dogs are allowed into any of the facilities on site

I suspect that the problem that this warden was probably trying to cover, is that some people seem to think that a quick walk around the site is enough for a dog?

In all organizations there are some who will read instructions for their own ego trip , without realising that others can actually also read, ask the said warden for a copy of the dogs on site leaflet and ask him to point out the relevant instruction Wink

Being an ex dog owner and after making observations on both CC sites and CCC sites there seems to be a trend not to use 'dog walks',but just to walk them around the site and allow 'nature to take it's course'. When we had dogs there was a beeline to the
dog walk to allow the natural event to happen there !

Some dog ownersthat I have seen have only walked their dogs on site and let them deficate there rather than taking them off site. Sad but true

Dogs are never a problem ,as for their owners and the way they act is where the problems are

I think there has been a slight misinterpretation of the request not to 'exercise your dogs on site'.

Our Community Manager asked that all posts relating to dogs on sites be posted in the "Caravanning with Dogs" thread. Unfortunately, we don't have the facility to move a single post so I'll close this one but invite the OP to repost as mentioned above.
