Why why don't members stick to the speed limit on site
I'm Sat here watching cars go past doing more than 5mph please slow down and no I don't have young children

I doubt they'll read this, Craig. Either speak to them directly or take their reg numbers and tell the warden.

If we are onsite watching cars go past I would say 50% are over 5mph but not many are over 10. I think people just dont realise/focus on their speed or maybe they just cant drive. First gear would be a better sign IMO and easier to enforce?
I cant realistically see that a warden could do much with an anecdotal ''I saw car XYZ 123 going past my caravan at more than 5mph this morning''

Me neither.
Also not helped when the wardens drive their tractors around at a similar speed to the cars.

Agree with your points but, on the last one, the warden could go and have a quiet word with the offender and remind him of the speed limit.

I remember a warden telling me once that they had spoken to a motorhomer who they had seen going round the site too fast on a couple of occasions. The motorhomer packed up and left the site! Job Done!

Why do people who have a problem with something they see on site whine about it on here and not go and see the warden !he is responsible for site rules ,if you get no joy then speak to H/O
CT is getting a bit tedious with people moaning about a car going to fast or a flapping flag or someone's fairy lights keeping them awake , get on with your holiday and tell us about the good points

Speeding on campsites is downright dangerous. It will never stop however unless the culprits are dealt with severely.
Other caravanners snitching to the warden staff about others speeding after the event , achieves nothing.
The warden staff need to control what happens on their site by monitoring site traffic-----. When they catch someone speeding, They should take the offender to task, then report that member to the HO where a decision should be taken to cancel that person's
membership.Once a few members have been kicked out of the CC, it will focus the minds of the rest.
This warden's discretion on the enforcement of CC on-site rules is counter productive. The rules are there for a reason ---- Wardens Must Enforce Them !!!!

I'm not sure what you can do about it, even speed ramps don't stop it. At Clumber, a site we visit frequently, and one that has a lot of young children about, some folk arriving on a Friday fairly launch their vans on the humps in their haste to get to the best pitch. Then do the same on the next circuit, when they have still not found it. Heaven knows what state the cupboards must be in when they have finished.

Wardens could challenge - I have seen them do so - but it is all too subjective

What happens then? No evidence either way so nothing can be done.

So, are members to flag down the warden as he hurtles past on his tractor, and point out that the car that he just went past was speeding?

Let's be honest 5mph is a very low limit and hard to keep to if you are Towing or have a MH, 10mph is achievable though. Also if you are constantly looking at the speedo you have more chance of hitting someone or something than you are if you concentrate
on the road. I wonder how many people have actually been hit on club sites and how many of them were the driver fault or the pedestrian fault for not looking and just wandering into the road.0 -

Sorry absolute rubbish, auto gearbox on tickover is fully achievable,even MH's with manual boxes have 1st gear.
If a few people were asked to leave the site because of their excessive speed. I bet even those members and non members who think they are above the rules would soon learn to drive properly.

I know I'm a fast walker, so taking a wastemaster back, in the cold, in the rain, I am not dithering about. So having a new arrival with 'van in tow tooting at me and waving for me to get out of his way did not produce a kindly reaction. I dont know if
they then left the site, the club or the hobby, but they would at least know what one member though of their rule breaking attitude.0 -
Last week on a CC site a car with caravan attached passed our pitch at a speed that was obviously way above 5mph. The outfit was followed by the warden on his bike, appearing to be trying to catch up with the outfit but seemed to be failing in his quest,
the gap between the two increasing rapidly.0 -
I have the answer to this problem. Once sited all cars should then be removed to an enlarged car park so there is virtually no movement on site except for leavers and new arrivals. Been on sites in Holland where this is the norm.
