A week in Windermere
well we are back from a week in windermear it was fantastic. i have read a lot about which is the best site's to visit and have spent a lot of time you tube looking and sites that you have all recomended, was a little apprehensive as no body had mentioned
this site, booked it via pitch up . com, fallbarrow at bowness on windermear FANTASTIC, private pitches 6 foot headges, all fully serviced, not far from town centre, a fantastic view whilst walking dogs round lakes, either iv stumbled on a big secret or nobody
knows about it yes its a park resorts but its 5 star and peaceful and posh, £1000 per week for a lodge i payed £240 for a week fully serviced, 3 adults 2 dogs and a awning, defo going back again

We stayed at Fallbarrow a couple of times a few years back when I ran the Windermere marathon. As you say, it's a nice site and convenient for the town. It used to be owned by the same company as Limefitt Park at Troutbeck opposite the Queen's Head and in a much more scenic spot.
But £35 a night in June is way more than we'd pay for either site to be honest - sorry to burst your bubble etc!

We stayed on this site a couple of years ago, just before it changed ownership.
Ýes it is in a great location. We paid £28pn and that was èye watering, but it was fully occupied so I guess the pricing is simple supply and demand.
But, a word of caution if you're planning a visit.
The pitches are very short. We are 8m long and could only be accommodated on one of two pitches.
The site access roads are narrow with sharp bends, and the hedges that give privacy make manouvering difficult.
Add in the cars parked half on the road in front of their caravan a-frames (because they've nowhere else to go) and it can all get far too fraught for comfort

My OH ran the Windermere marathon in 1983 but you would have been some way ahead!

yes i must say its a bit tight, got back end of caravan on the roundabout on the way in heart stopping moment, and you have to park your car in front as nowelse to park, we priced the log cabins up and for the top of the range with a lake view £1000 for
a week, jesus thats a years worth of touring and spending money, but i just thougt i'd share it as it's loverly, bunree next year thats been mentioned a few times on hear, iv you tubed it and it looks spectacular, i know it was over £30 a night but for 3 adults
and 2 dogs awning and a car i think thats good,some places charge per person, caravan, awning car, and dogs0 -
We have just returned yesterday from Fallbarrow Park, windermere. We paid £280 for our pitch for 7 nights, our pitch was a good size and fully serviced all hedged in so private.
we stayed there because our son had hired a lodge there,we normally would not pay such high rates. The site is a lovely site and very convenient for seeing that area, 5mins walk into Bowness which has lovely restaurants and cafes and shops. You can get
buses or ferries to various other places.There is a pub/restaurant on site which is dog friendly inside and out, there is a small shop and a games arcade( not my cup of tea ) but great for those who like that sort of thing.
The down side for us was being put on a pitch directly next to childrens play ground, we have nothing against children enjoying themselves but there was no close or open time so older children playing ball games from 7am till 10.30pm.
other than that we would say very good base for exploring that area.

when i booked i asked for a pitch away from the childrens play area and its was nice and peasful, but a tew times on a night when we were walking the dogs we noticed older children, same as you done all that just want a quite life pitch 66 we had 69 pitch
looks nice easy to get in and out of, i could not get over how people moved about like they did as one pulled out another pulled in0 -

Thanks Jill, we already have each other's email addresses. Apologies for going 'off thread' briefly......as M said, it's a shame that the CC IT don't know how to sort out a PM system, but there you go.....
Anyway, I'm rapidly going off this site when I see the cost......
