Chatsworth when the country fair is on?

I've booked for the weekend that the country fair is on.  I know normally you're given a key for the gate in the wall but what happens when this event is on?

do they not give you a key?  Or do you get a key and have to pay fair entry if you go in or do you get in for free?

i don't mind paying (though obviously free would be better), I don't want to have to drive round in the bad traffic jams to it.

use your key, go through the gate, pay at the desk and enjoy.

A few years a go we were able to walk straight in. Must have changed since then!

There is a pay desk just as you get through the door but it is cheaper if you buy your ticket on line now and print it out.

You will be lucky if you get on at weekends , normally have to book December when it first becomes available
