It could be that the wardn was reserving a pitch for a disabled member.  Was your pitch near the facilities?

Neither of the sites had facilities, Kjell.

They were standard sized pitches, and there were plenty of other H/S pitches of the same size available, BT

I was actually thinking about K's pitch.

I realised that later Kj, but it was appropriate for my post too, hence my reply.

Are most of the pitches on that site not suitable for, say, a twin axle caravan then, K?

Is it that only the best pitch on site is long enough?

Write your comments here...Twin axles vans fit on all the pitches on this site. The pitch I enjoyed was not near the public lavatories but had one of the best views of the loch.

The warden was busy cleaning the lavatories when we left the site and put the keys into the box just before 12.00' otherwise I would have asked the appropriate question "why put the cone on that particular pitch"

    K Cool

so rather than find out because they were busy, speculation is employed!Undecided

So......there were plenty of spare pitches, all were suitable for larger units and it wasn't that this pitch was suited to disabled users. But it was the best pitch on the site......and the warden reserved it.

I think we are getting close to an answer to this mystery......Wink

What too? The best pitch? Now that is a matter of opinion!

As I've said before, this is a good site for a short break and we had an enjoyable holiday in the area. Great dog walks, friendly neighbours and spotless public toilets.

It was only on the morning of our departure that the strange traffic cone appeared on our pitch early in the morning Why it was put there is a matter for conjecture.  There will be as many opinions as posters , but I think that the pitch being reserved , for whatever reason was a bit unusual.

    K Cool

Could it have belonged to a motorcaravaner who has gone out for the day? I've seen several of these fellow members put cones out on their pitches in this way. I have a proper sign with my reg. Number on it which I use mind.

A couple of years ago we were staying at Much Wenloch site, we had pitch envy, ours was dark and gloomy. Having spotted someone packing up we headed over to tell the warden we were going to move pitches.  As we were just about to go out for the day the warden
put a traffic cone on the pitch.

    Could this be what happened.

Yes, that does seem a very likely reason; someone already on site wanting to move onto that pitch. Best not to think the worst of the warden's motives I think. Happy

Or possibly it was being reserved for the temporary wardens who were expected and would be looking after the site when the "real" wardens were away on their days off.

Or may be the pitch needed some maintenance or spraying with weed killer! Lots of possible explanations, some folk of course will only be satisfied with a suggestion which fits their 'agenda'!Frown

No, I'll consider all possibilities, but I'll not jump to any old 'it must be' without knowing the 'truth'! Without that I prefer to be positive about things and not see gloom and despondency in all around me! Smile Do any of us know the 'truth'?

Clearly! So I 'listen' to and appreciate all the possible explanations but am unwilling to jump to any of these without the truth.

Which one possible unsubstantiated explanation have you jumped too, Ian?Wink

Here is one improbable possibility, alien cone heads landed!  Anyone going for that as a possibility, some may jump to this in the absence of 'truth'!Wink

Anyway, as I said before, anyone who thinks that CC sites are havens of good behaviour, quiet, rule abiding and dog poo free would seem to be a little 'starry eyed'......

I dont often visit this forum but took an interest in the post saying ideal break.  As usual, it soon started to digress into a moaning post by the usual moaning people who just seem to go on a caravan site to look at what goes on to moan about!  Moan over.

May I just say LBB......mine were merely observations. We have just returned from nearly three weeks of wonderful caravanning.

We are away at the moment and are not on a CC site (we had originally planned to be).  It's a very well kept private site but I'd say it's verging on being too regimented.   Never been on a CC/Private/CCC site with wardens patrolling periodically for untoward
    behaviour.
