Ideal break on this CC site
I am sitting in the van enjoying a cuppa and have not seen anything which will spoil the break.
Despite what we read on here, there are no dogs barking, no kids kicking balls at the caravans, No noisy neighbours, no vehicles racing round the site.
We have nice friendly neighbours and a friendly greeting from the warden on arrival.
Dont know what all the fuss and complaining is about on this forum.

Write your comments here... Only to Dorset ,Devon and Cornwall . Those tours we do most years. With 3 or 4 nights breaks in other counties as we travel down and back up again. Last year we had a few weeks in East Anglia and Linconshire. In fact I think the only county we have not toured in is Kent. - passed throught it often enough on our way to France.

Thats because there is a BIG difference between forum life and real life

There is never any sign the whiners and moaners that we find posting on here about their disatisfaction with CC sites.
The sites are OK.

We are also thoroughly enjoying our stay here on a CC site. People are friendly, it's mainly quiet and everyone is pitched correctly
The odd bottle being flung into the bottle bin is only a minor irritation. We succesfully avoided the group of kids on bikes coming the wrong way on the one-way system at 10:30pm last night. Ok, so the pile of dog poo on the grass next to a nearby pitch
hasn't been removed since yesterday, but I guess it doesn't directly affect us.These sites are not as perfect as some make out, but we are pleased with it. Just a pity it's so expensive

We are at Chester Fairoaks until tomorrow on my wifes annual shopping spree. The site is full but no speeding, problem dogs or anything else other than me. New error this time when I took rubbish and aquaroll to service point, put hose on tap and left it
to dispose of waste, got so tied up sorting this and putting someone elses paper in right bin that forgot aquaroll and only remembered it when my wife needed water. It was still there but very full thankfully.0 -
The site we just left this morning was, as I said before, ideal for a short break.
I saw nothing untoward until we awoke this morning . The warden had put a traffic cone on our pitch, which was IMO the nicest pitch on the site.
No other cones were put out, so a cynic might say, that one of the warden's special friends were arriving today for the weekend and that great pitch was being reserved for them.
I was not aware specific pitches could be reserved.
Didnt affect us as we were leaving, obviously at the proper time of just before 12.00 noon.

I saw nothing untoward until we awoke this morning . The warden had put a traffic cone on our pitch, which was IMO the nicest pitch on the site.
No other cones were put out, so a cynic might say, that one of the warden's special friends were arriving today for the weekend and that great pitch was being reserved for them.
I was not aware specific pitches could be reserved.
Didnt affect us as we were leaving, obviously at the proper time of just before 12.00 noon.

Further to my earlier post, despite the wardens riding past the pile of dog poo, within a few feet of it, numerous times, nothing happened about it. Mrs H ended up removing it.
Oh, and on the pitching thing......a caravanner arrived and put his caravan right on the edge of his pitch and his car on the opposite edge. Clearly he had a problem reading the clear instructions given to all new arrivals on pitching.....the same instructions
as there are on every CC site. He proceeded to put his awning up in the centre of the pitch, at which point the warden said something to him.....and he then continued.Of course, people leave after 12 as a matter of course.
Clearly, as (I think) JVB reported, the wardens are no longer required to uphold the rules.
Still enjoyed our stay......but why have these rules if they aren't upheld? It clearly puts the lie to the claim that CC sites are run to a higher standard.

Write your comments here...doing what all decent caravaners do by clearing their pitch by 12.00 midday on their departure day is normal practice. So no need to praise anybody who is considerate to those arriving members who are commencing their holiday.
Decency and consideration are so important.

It could be that the wardn was reserving a pitch for a disabled member. Was your pitch near the facilities?

I don't know which site this is, I was just talking in general and in general sites do 'advertise' the longest units which will fit and then they may only have a small number of pitches to suit these longer ones! It's a question I guess of managing these!

Are most of the pitches on that site not suitable for, say, a twin axle caravan then, K?
Is it that only the best pitch on site is long enough?
Write your comments here...Twin axles vans fit on all the pitches on this site. The pitch I enjoyed was not near the public lavatories but had one of the best views of the loch.
The warden was busy cleaning the lavatories when we left the site and put the keys into the box just before 12.00' otherwise I would have asked the appropriate question "why put the cone on that particular pitch"
