Anybody visited The Wheel Caravan and Camping park?

The website is short of detail and I can't find any reviews....anywhere!

    I didn't know there was a site there. We visited from Edinburgh CC site. It's only 20 or so miles.

    Try the Woods AS on the outskirts of Alloa. Very handy for both those attractions. ---------Have never heard of any decent sites in Falkirk or Bonnybridge.

    We have friends who booked to stay there at Easter.  When they arrived, they turned around and left - and spent the night wild camping at the Falkirk Wheel (costs £10 a night).

    They posted a picture of it - it looked like a building site!  And looking at the website, it still does  For those prices, i'd be wanting a much nicer setting, it looks awful.

    Just looked again and even more gobsmacked.  As a family of 4, we would be £29 a night.  It's unclear if that included electric.  The toilets are Portaloos.  They must be having a laugh!

    Thanks for that, as you suggest the facilities are critical at that price.....just thought that things may have developed a bit more!

    OMG...just look at the picture they have used for the main frame of their site. It looks like one of those places where most of the vans are pulled with Transit vans and they have churns lying everywhere for water....certainly not for me. Especially when
    the Edinburgh Caravan Club site which is excellent is only 20 miles away.

    Can't say we'd be attracted to it!  Not convinced about the wording either.

    £26/night high season with an awning for what looks like a large car park,  From the pictures not attractive at all!

    Try Beecraigs caravan and country park in Linlithgow which is a lovely site and it has nice large pitches and the largest showers we have ever used.

    Write your comments here...Another good suggestion "The Broons" That's one of our local country parks We spent the day there on Monday in the blazing heat.The forest provided a welcome shade.

    The site is as you say " Lovely "  - We had a few nights up there last October during the time we were moving house. Toilets and Site, are kept absolutely immaculate.

    I think a couple of nights in the car park will be appropriate!

    We use Stellplatze, Sostas and Aires extensively so the car park is very acceptable!

    We visited both the wheel and the Kelpies from Blair Drummond  during this May. A lovely affiliated site I would highly recommend.

    We too can recommend Beescraig. Good for visiting Linlithgow Palace too.

    Write your comments here...If you are going to park up overnight in the Falkirk Wheel car park, please take care. The local boyos with those noisy custom cars have been known to frequent that car park late at night.

    I got the impression that EJB was referring to the car park like state of the site and reckoned it would do for him as he's used to similar abroad.Undecided

    You can do the wheel and Kelpies in a day, so if you've a motorhome why not just do them on the way.

    If you do that, probably best to do the wheel first. As if you want to go on a boat, up / down, you may have to wait if busy. If there is a long wait, you could book your boat and then drive over to see the Kelpies while waiting.

    After advice on my favourite other site we will stay in the secure car park for a couple of nights (latest visit report from last night!).

    We use bikes and the area looks ideal!

    Toilets, showers and fresh water available for a tenner.

    If you have bikes with you,and you are staying on the Wheel car park  you dont need to drive between the Wheel and the Kelpies.--  Just follow the Forth and Clyde canal towpath ( completely traffic free )  to the other side of Falkirk, the canal ends at the lock beside the Kelpies.  Its a nice gentle journey there and back on the bike.
