Hi looking for somewhere to stop between Gretna and garlieston for lunch with caravan & dog in tow

    There’s plenty of laybys on the A75 that are suitable for a short lunch break. We used one when we visited Garlieston a couple of years ago.

    After the last Dumfries roundabout (about a mile after the dual carriageway ends)  look out for a road on your right sp Shawhead.  Just past that, there is a large layby on the left hand side.  There is a little cafe/takeaway in the layby called Route 75
    that does very good food.  There are also toilets.  Plenty of room for caravans and set back far enough from the road to safely give the dog a little walk.  We usually stop there.
