An alternative to Rowntree Park
The Nurseries is an altrnative site for when you cant get get on Rowntree Park or Beechwood.
Its located on the York bypass at Askham Bryan its only been open a couple of years but its in a lovely setting , we come up to York often to see family and because we coud not get on at Rowntree we decided to try this site as its only a couple of miles
from where my daughter lives.
Its not set out like club site but the facilities are adequate and very clean and the owners are very friendly.
Its worth stopping at if you cant get booked on at Rowntree.

Nice location. My late wife ans I stayed on a CL at askham Bryan some 30 or 35 years ago with our two children. We were staying 5 nights and the owner was happy for us to arrive at 8 am as we travelled from Chester and were early risers. I scraped the ice off the windscreen and hitche up. When I pulled up outsice I ealised tha tthe clocks had gone back that morning and that it was not 8am but 7 am. Thje chap came out to collect his milk, walked across and said come on in, I remembe rthe lovely orange pippin in the orchard where we parked and were told to help ourselves.

Depends what one requires on a site in way of facilities. Cherry Tree Cottages Caravan Site, to the north of the city at Nether Poppleton, has H/S & EHU but no toilet block. Bus stop for the city only 100yds or so from the entrance.

Fair enough.......but you will need your car to get into York......and pay the exorbitant parking charges.
There are buses into York from Askham Bryan - and if (like many of us) you are favoured with a bus pass, it will cost you nothing!
Write your comments here...Plus the site is in the middle of two park and rides Askham Bar and the fairly new on just off the A59 roundabout. There is also a cycle path that runs past the site .

Hope there are more buses there than at nearby Askham Richard (where I once lived). I guess there may be, due to the nearby college.
Write your comments here...My daugher lives in the next hamlet to Askham Richard , and they are not on the bus route , we will will be trying the park and rides later in the year.

We used Naburn Lock last year and were happy with that. Very similar to a club site but hook ups are far older and only 10 amps though.
It is next to the Outlet shops if you are going there and you can get into city by both local bus and by boat.
Well worth considering and a bit cheaper than the club sites for two. It also has adult only area for those wanting this.

We stayed on Rowntree Park a couple of months ago. As I now have mobility problems it proved too much for me to walk into the centre of York.We would have been better staying on a CL and catching the Park and Ride bus which takes you right into the centre.
