Bearsted Caravan Club site

We are currently at the aforementioned site. Is it now customary to drive around sites at up to 30mph and play loud music?

There are loads of children here and someone is going to get killed at the rate the children are riding their bikes and the speed the drivers are driving around.

And then there is the caravan with the loud music that no-one seems bothered about. Wardens don't want to know, even the bloke with the music doesn't care, as is the way with the world these days.

We've only come away to get some peace and quite, obviously we aren't allowed to. May aswell have stayed on the cheap, commercial site up the road.Sad

Several rules broken and the wardens ignore them.

Aren't the wardens supposed to manage the site? Surely it's not part of their job description that they ignore all rule-breakers??

Complain to Head Office - it's all that's left if you've taken the matter up with the wardens.

Best that you discuss your complaints with the site staff rather than on here as we can't do much about any of it.

I know nothing can be done by moaning on here, just venting a bit that's all. Seems to be sorted now anyway, except the speeeders, which will always be a problem.

Just a bit hacked off tis all, we have a noisy neighbour so came away for some peace and quiet, very tired, got a five month old baby that is poorly, been awake for 36 hours now so I'm a tad cranky and lost a semblance of tolerance.Sad

I thought it was only Haven et al that was not up to CC standard.

I know this might not go down well with a few on here BUT - the correct course of action if when on site and somebody is behaving in an antisocial manner which is bothering you  is tell the offender to stop what he/she is doing and behave.  If this fails to address the problem put the complaint squarely on the shoulders of the warden .If the warden does absolutely nothing then a complaint against the warden should be sent to head office. It is the Wardens job to deal with antisocial customers ----- if they fail to do that, they are obviously in the wrong job.

Good points, K, but these were the wardens who allowed the OP on site at 9:30, so they might have felt unwilling to raise concerns with them after that! LaughingLaughing

We've stayed at Bearsted a few times, and have found it very quiet and peaceful.  Loud music can be a problem but its a difficult one to address unless it continues into the night... Wardens should still have a quiet word with the offender and ask for it to be kept within reasonable limits.  As for speeders, that is a pirenial problem on all club sites, and the kids on there bikes are generally worse than the cars.  All site guidance states that one way systems and speed limits should be observed by all site users, including bikes.  But people either don't read the guidance, or simply allow their kids to run riot.... Only a matter of time before a serious injury or fatality occurs...

Has it changed since we were there two years ago?, it was run by one couple with relief wardens to cover their time off,did the said poster actually mention to anyone their concerns, even if for what ever reason they were allowed on early

Having just spent three nights at Bearstead.  unfortunately didn't add anything in the visitors book but should have - the site was the most immaculately kept site with respect to the grounds, the cleanliness of the facilities and the wardens, who clearly
care immensely about the service they provide, that we have met in 30 years of visiting CC sites.

We cancelled our booking here.......over £30/night (outside school holidays) was far too much for a site that has 'mixed' reviews.

Stayed on this site a few times, the wardens, Terry and Roz if i remember correct. have always been most helpful and welcoming. The site is immaculate and the grounds are tended like they are looking after their own garden,

Only used Bearsted as a stop over on way home from continent and it's always been immaculate.

Was at Wharfedale site recently and on booking in the warden wrote and ringed a huge number 5 on the site map and reminded me of the speed. I asked them if the ever read CT re speed on sites! They claimed it was working and traffic had slowed down.

We have stayed at Bearstead a couple of times whilst under Club ownership and once before and always found it an excellent campsite.

We stayed there last October. The weekends were very busy with many  children and large groups. Monday to Thursday were ok though!

not a site we will use again!
