Longest access road

We are going to the Longest site and keep reading issues regarding the access road. I am still relatively new to caravaning and feel a bit concerned. Is it that bad? Hopefully the strict arrival and departure times are adhered to.

SW, I'm assuming you mean Longleat and have suffered predictive text syndrome! You don't need to be concerned about the approach road to the site which is wide for most of the way and you're unlikely to meet another outfit coming your way. Some years ago
the access used to be along the main road into the estate, right past the front of the house itself which was probably the best access to any club site. Sadly the new regime on the estate changed all that!

Thank you for the reassurance. This will be our first long trip, well long for us. Been a long day and completely missed the typo. Time for a glass of wine!

The drive through Bath was far more of a challenge for us than the lane to the site.......and I suspect that, from Devon, that won't be an issue for you Smile

What are the departure and arrival times got to do with it. I assume you will be arriving after the earliest arrival time so that won't be an issue, u can't control if motorhome a will be leaving at any point in the day just to go out and return , just enjoy
    the trip and don't worry.

Write your comments here...I agree that arriving after the earliest arrival time normally would not cause any problems But - If the warden, used her discretion to allow late departures there could be conflicts between caravan outfits on the approach road  between departing and arriving customers.

The access road is ok, narrow in places now all caravans are directed in the rear access. I would recommend sticking to the access times as those that arrive early are a pain to those leaving if you meet in the narrow part of the lane ! Watch out when driving
past the entrance for the safari as all internal traffic from Longleat comes the opposite way to you, and because part of the rout is one way they seem to be under the impression its one way all the way and you will often find cars on your side of the road
as you approach the final bends ! Enjoy your stay. Cracking site, but does get busy and noisey with Kids shouting and screaming till late at night.

The access lane is no problem, except that is for the mud and stuff that will be thrown up onto thye front of your van.

But surely arriving at 12:05 should be fine......because all the departers will be gone by 12noon?

Cannot understand why arrivals are limited to after 1pm

I would hope given the access road that the wardens do not allow late stays on this site. Someone might have asked and be able to tell us.
