Bridlington site and area

we are off to Bridlington in a couple of weeks and have not been to the area before.

Have done a bit of research and it seems the town itself is not very welcoming to Motorhomes or dogs as I can find any of the beaches where they (dogs) are allowed.

Have looked at the site reviews and one mentioned walking through the golf club to get to Sewerby Hall and the land train.  Anyone know if this is still possible and how long a walk it is.  Or, can we park our motorhome at the park and ride, not sure about
height restrictions?

We are going to the RSPB bird reserve as I'm desperate to see a puffin but any suggestions or help on the area would be gratefully received, particularly on dog friendly places to eat.

thanks

Hi - it is possible to walk from the Club Site into Bridlington.   You don't have to go through the golf club, you can just walk along the road.   You can of course get the land train but the walk is quite nice.     Not sure about height barriers, but Danes
Dyke is probably dog friendly, although there is a charge to park, there is a little cafe.   There is also a coastal walk from Bridlington to Flamborough Head and the north and south landings.    Dogs are not allowed on certain parts of the beach at Bridlington
between March and September, but the top end near Sewerby may be possible.    Lots of pubs and places around to eat, but sorry not sure of dog friendly as don't have one.

We are at Bridlington now (Haven at Flamboough). I believe from where we are it is around 7 miles to walk to Bridlington along the coastal path, however the club site is closer.  We drove and followed the signes to North Beach and I think Sewebry was the
little village we palked in.  There is a big grass car park here which was relatively empty but I didn't notice if it had a height barrier or not.  From here it is about a 15 min walk along the cliffs or beach to the town.  Dogs are allowed on this section
of the beach.  We have also found the town very friendly and the dog has been allowed to sit inside the two cafes we have been in so we haven't ha to sit outside in the breeze.  We have not ventured to Danes Dyke yet.

Clifftop car park at Filey is fine for motorhomes and it is an easy walk down to the front. The Brigg end of the beach is OK for dogs but they are banned on the main part.Have you thought about heading inland to the Wolds?Park up in Thixendale and walk the
Wolds Way to Wharram Percy-deserted mediaeval village.Park  up in Huggate for walks,or Pocklington to walk the canal.Wetwang has a great chip shop.,Sledmere House is worth a visit and you can see the Wolds Waggoners monument.Great village  pub in Goodmanham
outside Mkt Weighton and Wolds Way at hand.Beverley is worth a visit for the Minster and there is a great pub on Hengate"Nellies" aka The White Horse.Drive out to Rudston to see the monolith,Bempton for the cliffs and puffins,Danes Dyke,Sowerby Park(near the
site)  Burton Agnes Hall is worth a visit an eclectic list but there is a lot going for East Yorkshire.Hull can also  be visited by train and it is well worth a visit despite the undeservedly  bad rep it gets from outsiders.

We stayed at the CC site at Brid last August, lovely walk to the cliff and then along top or bottom (with dog on the beach) to town.  We found some very good dog friendly cafes & pubs.

The area is lovely, Bridlington the town is quite frankly not! Best places are Flamborough, Bempton, lovely villages around and about. If it is the Club Site you are using, then this is in a nice area, close to Sewerby, with its lovely Park and Amy Johnson museum. You will have no problems with MH at Bempton RSPB reserve, but at moment it is very very busy. Worth going though to get so close to wonderful seabirds.

Best dog walking beaches we can recommend are Fraisthorpe to the South of Brid, good for MH, and to head North to Hunmanby Gap/beach. Again, good car park for MHs directly looking over beach. Check tides for both though.

Best places to visit? Burton Agnes Hall and Gardens, Sledmere Hall and Gardens, Flamborough North Landing and Lighthouse, driving tour inland through some of little villages if wet. Scarborough isn't far, and you can go by train. Much nicer town than Bridlington. Sad to have to say it, but Bridlington town centre is awful.

Edit: both Burton Agnes and Sledmere have good eateries, both dog friendly. They can go round gardens as well, but not inside Halls. Fabulous Fish and Chip restaurant at Brandesburton.

None of us have mentioned the Old Town of Bridlington-rather remiss of us.Follow the signs for Historic Old Town -it is where the latest "Dads Army" was shot.
