Pippah, why don't you just phone the site and ask them? Or e-mail the Site Office at HO?

The handbook and the rule book say no arrivals at the Club site after 8pm.but do as Nellie days - talk the wardens and see whether they will stretch a point for you. Otherwise it's stay within the ferry port area or go to Riverside Caravan Park - which is closer and easier to find than the Club site and does have a late arrivals area - if you tell them in advance.

Pippah, if you have a problem try this one -

It's much easier to access than Plymouth Sound.

Write your comments here...Nellie if you knew the situation and mess I am in you wouldnt ask but I did speak to HO and they go with the 8pm latest but I knew people on CT had mentioned that site so here I am. Then eventually got hold of the site wardens.

Thank you Tinny and Dave that looks lot easier! I will try them. I tried Tavistock but that doesn't do late arrivals.
Riverside is very close to the A38 on the eastern outskirts of Plymouth, Pippah. It's not the quietest of places with industrial/retail units and main roads nearby but is ideally situated for overnight stops and much easier to access than Plymouth Sound.
I used to live about half a mile from Riverside.0 -
Unfortunately they are booked up!, will have to take my chances. Quiet isn't too much of an issue when I take the hearing aids out. Another time I will remember them trying to find somewhere on the bank holiday is fraught but situation beyond my control!

Glad that you got hold of the wardens, in the end, even though the sites booked up. Hope you get sorted somewhere.

Sorry that isn't going to work for you, Pippah. You won't have time to travel far and there aren't many sites of any sort in the area. If I think of anything I'll post again.

Thank you Tinny I am booked for the Sound but they won't take me after 9 and someone or two warn of the access road but I hope it must be ok for the CC to have a site there. If push comes to shove I will return to the docks and wait with those setting off
for France in the morning!0 -
The latter option has a lot in its favour Pippah.

Hello East Grinstead.
Is it good enough that people coming into Plymouth from the Roscoff ferry - which arrives at 2130 most days over the summer - can't get into the Plymouth Sound Club site? How about employing local part time staff for a couple of hours at the site to make this possible? Customer service for Club members.

this possible? Customer service for Club members. How long would it take to disembark from the 2130 ferry & get to Plymouth sound......... 1/2 hour ? 1 hour ? I'm all for customer service, but that should also extend to those members already onsite not being disturbed by such late arrivals.

Late arrivals from the Dover and Portsmouth ferries are catered for at Black Horse Farm and Rookesbury Park, without too much disturbance for other residents, but people arriving late at Plymouth ferry port are not.

To be honest, if I was using the Roskoff or Santander ferries from Plymouth the CC site Plymouth Sound would be way down on my list of sites to use. It is called Plymouth Sound Site not because it is near the Ferryport but because it overlooks the Sound from several miles to the east. The access isn't good and it means driving through the City Centre and suburbs before reaching the awkward lanes leading to the site.
Perhaps CC considered this site unsuitable for late arrivals, especially after dark, in view of the access.
