How long have you got? How much driving do you want to do each day? What attractions interest you? Scotland is bigger than most people realise. There are other threads on visiting Scotland, especially the far North West above Inverness. That route alone
is 500 miles.Without knowing if you are interested in visiting the cites or just want to experience the fantastic scenery its difficult to advise you.

We took six weeks several years ago and didn't manage it all. There's plenty to do and see in Scotland, we ended up with more than a week just exploring in and around Edinburgh. We have friends we live in Ayrshire so its not like we haven't explored bits
before. You've got a fair drive before you even cross the border.I agree with Biggarmac give us some more info and you'll get lots of advice ?

We have 2 weeks and realise we need to be selective. Ideally would like to visit Edinburgh but mainly want to take in the stunning scenery...

Scotland is full of stunning scenery so doesn't really narrow it down a lot...... Can you be a bit more sepecific about travel distances you are happy with? It will help generate some ideas however for what it's worth if you are happy having a marathon drive
I would head east coast (A1) to Edinburgh maybe stopping off in Berwick en route, after Edinburgh head M9/A9 north to Inverness for a day or 3, across to west coast (Gairloch or Kinlochewe) and them south to fort William, Glasgow, south west coast ( Dumfriesshire)
and south via A/M74/M6 home.0 -
What about doing Edinburgh, the club site used to be handy with bus nearby. And then check out the area around there. The borders have lovely scenery. I see you're a motorhome er a d so you'll have choice. I would recommend the Rosslyn chapel, probably
expd dive since da Vinci code made it very famous. If you want to chill a bit too there'll be plenty of driving to Edinburgh and back . Don't forget Edinburgh us busy in August you don't say when you are going. West coast, not Edinburgh has midge problems
in the summer. The wee beasties are a real pain if you have good weather. No issue if its wet or windy.0 -
Provided one accepts the time limitation, part of Scotland is still readily doable. Unless going for a month plus, it is unrealistic to see all of Scotland anyway. Just pick an area. A few days in Edinburgh and then meandering round Ayrshire is easy to do in a MH. If you want go right up the top then, yes, you do need more than a fortnight.

As Cyberyacht says you can really only do Edinburgh and one or two other areas. My suggestion would be to stop at Edinburgh on the way up and then if you want to see the mountains head for Inverness which would be a suitable hub for that area. Be warned it is around two hundred miles though between the two.
Coming back say the West coast but Ayr would probably be about as far as you would want to drive in a day.

From Somerset -- Unless you have a spare month, Just choose one, possibly two areas of Scotland and tour there.
Suggest your nearest would be The South West -Garlieson or New England Bay - then go to the Central belt. You could use sites around Edinburgh, Stirling, Glasgow, Fife or Callendar Not necessarily CC club sites.
Unless you have oodles of time. Travelling further North into the Spectacular Scenery of the North West might just be a journey too far.
Enjoy your Holiday

For Edinburgh, I prefer to use Linwater caravan site. There's a park & ride not too far away. As for the rest, I wouldn't go too far north or you will spend all your time travelling. Have a look at Dumfries & Galloway, the borders , see the Falkirk
wheel, Fife etc..If you want to go north, the east has its own special beauty with some great quiet beaches. Let me also recommend visiting Royal Deeside or the Spey valley. More distilleries than you can count.

Thanks for everyone's ideas. We're going in less than two weeks and really looking forward to it

Enjoy yourselves. If you are looking at Strathclyde Park rather than the handbook route come off at junct 6 and take the Motherwell slip. You can then turn left into the park and drive to the far end where the site is signed rather than hit the roadworks
at junct 5 which can be very slow and you need to know the right lane on the roundabout.0 -
Scotland is a big beautiful place and 2 weeks will not be long enough Edinburgh has plenty to see and do, however if you wanting to get up and back in 2 weeks and see Scotland then Edinburgh could possibly be your farthest point north. Lots of 'A' roads
and tractors around which you can get caught behind and can really slow your journey. Enjoy your trip to Scotland0
