Troutbeck Head
I am due in to TH tomorrow for a few nights. This morning I get a call/voicemail advising me that there is a cycle event...1000+bikes...using the approach road until at least midday. They were suggesting that I avoid a prompt arrival if I wanted to miss
a load of cyclists! How thoughtful was that? . Quality Customer service I call it. My thanks to the wardens...much appreciated.

That is very good, although late in the day at least they were informed in time to do something about it. Communication with these sort of events seems very poor. A few years ago we went to Freshwater East in Pembrokeshire and were held up for over 5 hours
by the iron man challenge. They were using about 100 metres of road that we needed to go down to get to the site. Apparently the wardens only found out they were affected the evening before and those leaving had to be out by 7am. Ourselves and about 20 other
vans finally got onto site at 5:30 pm.0 -
good to hear a postive story on CT.
An excellent site BTW

I'm guessing that would be the Fred Whitton Challenge going by........probably the toughest cycle challenge in this country for ameteurs.......takes in all the Lake District passes. If you are fortunate enough to see them pass, I suggest that you applaud
them, they are heros.0 -
Possibly a new way to stop you arriving before noon!
I like that

Yes, these cycling events can be bothersome.
Personally I think John Wayne had the right idea
