Wardens in hiding

" ..but put alongside a drop in standards that many have witnessed, as caravan and motorhome sales have ballooned, it seems believable to me."
Some may say there has been a drop in standards, but I'm not sure where the actual evidence for that is. It's all a matter of personal perception. Certainly, although we don't use CC club sites as much now as we once did, I can't honestly say I've
noticed a drop in standards over the 10 years and more we've been using them. And certainly, compared to some private sites we've been to, the standard of cleanliness and order on CC club sitesvis consistently better, regardless of other faults within the organisation
as a whole.0 -
The drop in standards is across all aspects of todays society, even where people put in their time volunteerily to help others its not appreciated, and more want more from others with less input from themselves
Well, I would agree with that to some extent JVB.......

as a whole.no doubt people will think I'm biased slighly in favour of the club but in over 16 years of using club sites almost all the time I have not noticed a drop in site standards (inside or out) not any increase in bad bahaviour. I would say that wardens
are getting friendlier.0 -
I have not noticed a drop standards in CC sites. The warden staff clean the lavatories as well as they used to. The sites are kept to a good standard and the water tap areas are alwaye cleaned as they always were.
In my opinion standards have slipped in the CC on-site rules enforcement by the warden staff.
When the on-site rules were broken Warden staff used to take the offender to task. This nowadays does not happen to the same extent.

In the past, when wardens had "problems" with members, the cc would normally, unless there was some one to back the warden, (rare), not support the warden,in the last few years after strong representations from the wardens committee(yes there is one)have been given more on site powers to ejectf rom site and suspend "members" so its possible that we do not apreciate what is happening in the worst cases,in our ever lowering of standards society

I for one haven't experienced/seen any drop in rule enforcement! Take for example rule 15! I've only ever seen it correctly implemented, as and when circumstances allow, just as defined in the rule itself!
Write your comments here...Mickysf , excuse my ignorance but what is rule 15 .I'm new to this game .

Nooooo! Pleeeease!
I'm not making fun of you, Trellis, but if you search out the closed Sunday Departures thread the reason for my hysteria will become clear. I'll let Micky explain.

Trellis, Ian or Kennine will give you the alternative view of rule 15!
as in alternative reality - you should add M

here it is Trellis:
15 Leaving your pitch
a. Pitches should normally be vacated by 12:00 noon.
b. If you'd like to remain later on site, not necessarily on your pitch, have a word with the Site Staff. Be aware that charges may apply if you stay beyond 4pm.
and the club further guidance:
"Committees have requested that, the site staff are asked to be flexible with the 12 o’ clock departure time, wherever possible. This is left up to the staff to manage, as they are aware of the number of arrivals each day which are shown on the booking
system. As on some of the busier sites, when the sites are running full, the staff have to manage those outfits departing at 12 o’clock, freeing up pitches for those arriving. Therefore, at busy times we do implement the rule, however, at quieter times,
site staff are asked to relax the rule and let visitors stay on site at no extra charge until 4.00 pm, this is considered the fairest to all under the circumstances."0 -
OH DEAR ,I've a feeling I may well regret asking .
Write your comments here...dont worry about it trellis. Its only people still miffed at being proved wrong by head office in their belief that there should be no arrivals at all on a Sunday or even that there should be no arrivals before 16.00hrs on a Sunday. Others challenged that view as being unfair to arriving members
Everybody else have moved on and the thread is now well and truly closed.
There is a suspicion that they are trying to reopen the subject.

Off topic but.......just received an email 'reminding' us of a forthcoming (now rare) booking at a CC site. It says:
Arrival time: Earliest: 12:00 Latest: 20:00
Latest departure time: 12:00Mmmm.....interesting.
Anyway, I hope the wardens aren't in hiding when we get there.

As this thread is about wardens in hiding and on site rules failing to be implemented when they are flaunted. A post earlier by Corners confirmed without doubt that wardens have been asked to relax the rules.
This might explain why there seems to be a" turn the blind eye" to trangressions of the CC on site rules.

I think that if you spoke to the wardens ,you would find that there is a shorted of trained site staff ,new wardens on their first site sometimes can't hack it and leave the network altogether either because they do not get on with other wardens on site
or the general public (us) or more likely that the club has changed their terms of employment i.e. more work or lower travel allowances when travelling from home to site ,also don't forget that they have to provide at their cost site accommodation the club
do not contribute to this it has to come out of the minimum wage etc0 -

Which post by Corners was that, K? I must confess I haven't read all back through the thread so I'd be grateful for enlightenment!

they have to pay site fees like anyone else? That is disgraceful0 -
Is that the case. I've no knowledge of the arttangement but had always presumed that the wardens pitch was part of the job.

£25 or so per night over a season comes in at about £6000!

Write your comments here...Like you, I always thought Warden site staff did not pay site fees or pay for their electricity. That those were perks of the job.
Perhaps H/O could advise on that.
