Try Cromer or Knaresborough but do remember its a caravan club not a booze up in the park. Thats found in Magaluf.

How much do you pay for a pint of bitter in Magaluf? Just asking in case I go there.

We use club sites because the majority don't have clubhouses.  Dread the thought - just not our thing.

ditto..... there are plenty of commercial sites which cater for the 'clubhouse' market.  I am not against the provision of a coffee bar or other catering/drink facilities as such however on the one ocassion we stayed on a large comemrcial site with 'club'
facilities we witnessed a full scale fight outside our van at 1.00pm in the morning, Police etc called and all piled in, and that was just the women!

Same here, we've had some "interesting" experiences on sites with clubhouses (not CC or C&CC sites I hasten to add!) in the past and steer well clear of them nowadays!

They're not all fun of 20-somethings drinking shots of sambuca you know.

Surely if you don't like club houses, you can just, you know, not go in?

We stayed in a lovely site in Devon (CC) that had a Club House next to the pool.   We didn't use it much, as the entertainment was pitched at the over 60's.

    But I didn't moan/complain about it.  Why would I?

To be fair petertr, I don't think it has anything to do with age groups.  If there is a clubhouse on site, it's inevitable that there's going to be noise at 'chucking out time' as people wander back to their units.

Whether the people are 24 or 64 doesn't matter.  Not everyone wants to be woken up at 1 in the morning!

We once stayed on a commercial site with a clubhouse where our neighbours on the next pitch had a 2 year old and a 9 month old baby ... the whole family were up all night after the little ones were woken at ridiculous o'clock by people coming out of the
    clubhouse Frown

Isn't it strange how people feel about club houses, some love them while others hate them, others are totally indifferant to them.

What is also strange is that over in the place we are not allowed to mention (abroad) lots of sites have bars and restaurants on them. Yet we don't seem to see the same complaints about them as here in the UK. Most sites close the bar between 11 - 12.00 most sites have a no noise after 12.00 policy and the main gates are closed and locked at this time so no cars are moving round the site. We spend an equal amount of time both here and over there, but rarely have a problem other than in the UK. So what does that say, are we  louder than the Spanish/Italien/French I don't think so, are we less considerate to our fellow campers, possibly, or do we not know when to stop drinking?

I will now duck down and wait for the flackWink

I'm not bothered either way ,next week we are going to a chalet site with an on site club house , we wont be going in ( not our thing), but i dont suppose for one moment it will spoil our stay if theres a bit a noise coming from it .....

In response to the post by Tammygirl echoed by Deleted User User, I think it does depend on the sites you go to.  I think you need to look on the appropriate websites, read the appropriate reviews  (use Ukcampsite.co.uk?), and read between the lines Wink

There are some nice sites with 'pub style' hostelries that just do food and no entertainment  e.g. Globe Vale, Redruth.  If you go to Seacroft at Cromer, they do food, but also have some 'entertainment'.  Most of the Haven type sites are quite heavily into entertainment.  Just choose what suits you personally.

Guess you come under the indifferant to it then H Wink  it's not all about the noise coming from it (clubhouse) more I think about the noise of the revellers returning to their vans.

DSB we gave up using these type of sites in the UK a long time ago, having said that we have on occasion been woken in the early hours by taxis dropping (happy) folk off after a night on the town, it doesn't really make that much of a differance where or what type of site you choose, inconsiderate folk will always be around.

Indeed, it's an excellent site - just about the closest one to home for us and one which we use often for quick breaks. In addition to the Three Magpies at the entrance a short stroll along the canal will bring you to The Barge at Seend Cleeve where you
can sit canalside watching the boats go by - magic!
Happy. Use left and right arrows to navigate.

We have noted many times in France, groups of young men / ladies on a night out together........and having a meal, the odd glass of wine and a lot of conversation.

Compare that to a group of young men in the UK.......

Many years ago  when our children were around 10 years old we used to holiday with Eurocamp. Some of our best memories are karaoke nights and World Cup football nights in the Clubhouse amongst all the various nationalities, certainly beats watching TV behind
    closed curtains!

Karaoke and football = my idea of absolute hell. I agree that social drinking and eating is far,far more civilised Sur le continent, we have been to wine festivals and the lack of police and drunks was quite remarkable in comparison with the U.K. behaviour
    with drink.....

Hillhead has a clubhouse that does meals and provides entertainment in the summer time. We love it at Hillhead the bar is nice and they have an outside area which is a nice place to sit on a sunny evening. The entertainment is varied and we enjoy it they
have tribute acts, quiz's, bingo etc.

as a single person I wouldn't mind a clubhouse where I could socialise and meet people ,Knareborough is easy for me to get as I come from Harrogate so know the area well but it's always full ,Burrs country park has a pub next door ,also gets full too but
as it's open all year I frequent it a lot I was there Boxing day when the area was flooded as was the entrance to the site

I would hate to see a club house - more potential for noise late at night,  and a waste (IMO) of money that could be better spent elsewhere as it would have to be heated, lit, cleaned plus of course using up space that could be used for more pitches.

Love the onsite chip vans though - they are a great idea, all sites should encourage these

I agree with bmb. I've got nothing against clubhouses on sites per se. But there are plenty of sites outside the CC network with clubhouses for those who want to use them. It's just one more way in which the club offers an alternative to many commercial
sites, and a very welcome one for us and many others.

Totally agree, it is one of the main reasons we like the club sites. If we want a pub meal we try and combine it with a walk from the site during the day. In the evening a meal in or out of the van, is much preferable to visiting a club with generally mediocre
over priced wines and beers, and food that is more about refuelling, than enjoyment.

I would add to bmbonanzas comment about the fish and chips. More wood fired pizza vans, of the quality that visits Cirencester  Park, they are to be recommended.
