We're down in North Devon next week......Woolacombe Sands. Hope it's nice there........never been to North Devon before.

I have never stayed on this site Ian as we live so close by. Our daughter and family actually live in Woolacombe and the grandchildren are at the school, great view of the beach from their playground. I have visited the site and the owners are very nice.
Seems fine. Of course Woolacombe beach is beautiful, if the village does get very busy in the season. Yes Lynmouth worth a visit, lovely walk along by the river up the valley to Watersmeet. The flood memorial rooms are worth seeing, very informative, if sad.
The cliff railway is a must. Clovelly is a bit expensive, you have to pay to see the village, might be worth going to Bucks Mills instead. As I know you are a NT member I would recommend Arlington Court. The carriage museum is lovely and I like the kitchen
garden. If you like to walk then I would suggest Heddons Mouth/Hunters Inn. NT car park and then a lovely walk through woodland to a small beach. Hope this is helpful and the weather is good for you.

Just had another thought Ian, if you are into gardens then I would recommend the RHS gardens Rosemoor at Torrington, really lovely. Well all that should keep you busy.

Interesting that all the replies to the original post have been suggestions of independent private sites, both large and small. Not one Club-owned site mentioned.

I said to the OP that it was easy for him to check CC sites himself.

We have used Marazion Threeways CC site loads of times. Great location, great price. Seen Looe, Godrevy, St Agnes, again look nice sites. You are spoilt for choice though down in Devon and Cornwall, some beautiful choices. Personally, we would choose the
area and things we would like to see and do first, and then find sites to suit. Depending on time of year, can be not too great on some main Cornish roads in August, jam packed with tourists (and tractors! )

My stepson is moving to Lynton at the end of the month. I may be trying to talk him into setting up a CL. Wink

River valley holiday park, london apprentice, near mevagissy. Indoor pool, games room, play area, some huge pitches. Lovely area in a village but not far from st Austell. Smallish site but also has some statics.  Not a chavvy site at all.

Theres a local shop opposite the site and you can bike along to pentewan sands from site along a track. There is also the sister site little winnick I think it's called.

Ross Park, not too far from Torquay. Fantatstic site and service, should also be compulsory for ALL CC wardens and office staff to visit this site and see how it can and should be done.

Write your comments here...I can confirm this is a lovely site as its just down the road to us. We take our motorhome there when our daughter comes down and she loves the site, plus you can also walk into St Austell.

Hi Like you we went to Trewethett and loved it! However on our first trip last year we went to a wedding and stopped at Wooda in Bude, good site with plenty to do for a family.Tennis courts, pitch & putt, sports barn, fishing and on site bar.

Also stopped at Padstow Touring Park Although it is has first class facilities the wife preferred Wooda, I suppose it is a matter of personal taste. We have some images of Wooda on www.touringviews.co.uk
