Last year as some of you kind people will remember we bought our first caravan and headed off from North Lancashire to cornwall. We did a three leg stay:

Trewethett in Tintagel - loved it!

Aire Caravan Park - St Ives husband and son hated it

Trevedra Sennen - loved it so much so headed back later in year.

I am just trying to plan our next stay in Cornwall and the boys are adamant they want a week at Tintagel and a week in Sennen. I have tried to point out that there are other places to 'try' but they are reluctant as they love
both these places for the peaceful setting (although can be busy at Trevedra at weekends) and walks.

If anyone can give me any further suggestions of places comparable or in their opinion better I would welcome them. Please take not we have a large outfit (Buccaneer + Landrover) and this will be only our second year towing

Many thanks in advance

Take a look at Penmarlam Caravan Park. We used this site when it was a small family run site for 20 years. Stunningly beautiful part of Cornwall near Fowey, lots to do in area, lovely walking, gardens, other things to do. Happy

Try Globe Vale Holiday Park, just outside Redruth.  In the countryside with good views up to St Agnes Beacon.  Lovely site, not as expensive as many.  Well looked after and cared for by Paul and Louise.  Small bar (with ordinary food), nice children's playground.
No swimming pool but full serviced pitches available on grass or hardstanding.

Easy to get to supermarkets (10 min. drive) and caravan spares shop at Scorrier.  Easy access to most parts of Cornwall.

This is our site of choice for Cornwall.

I would suggest trying something in mid-Cornwall, mcr. It's easy enough for you to look up CC sites to see if they suit but it's worth considerping others as well. TDA and DSB have given you options. Here's another with good facilities and access to the north coast beaches.

Have you been to Bude - and did you know the locals rhyme it with rude? Try Willow Valley Holiday Park.

Or if you want somewhere in the small is beautiful category and way down west - Poldown Caravan park  near Helston

Bude is easy. Try saying Poughill where my mil lived and where the CC Wooda Farm AS is.  It's pronounced Poffill.

Your heading did mention Devon too - so have a look at Harford Bridge caravan site just outside Tavistock - which is one of the nicest towns around and right on the edge of Dartmoor. If you can manage without an electric hook up then snap up one of the pitches right along the river bank.

Tavistock is a fantastic place, lots to see and do, brilliant pannier market. We used to visit regular,  about an hour from Penmarlam site, so a good twin site stop. Dartmoor is fantastic for children, horse riding, canoeing, cycling, loads to do!

Can I ask what Damage Barton is like, for those of you that have been recently? We have booked there for June as its where I spent my  childhood summer holidays there.

Damage Barton has a wonderful situation, amazing views and is immaculately maintained. But it is a bit like Caravanning on a wide open airfield - not cosy and intimate.

ET I've also heard the the access to the site is a bit hairy?  Also that it's incredibly windy, which I don't remember, although I recalll flying a kite?

I've never stayed at Damage Barton but the north coast is nearly always windy.

I have been visiting the west country for over 50 years, lately every year for the past 20 years, Damage Barton is one of my favourite sites, yes it is fairly open but it has great access to excellent walking, rocky coves and sandy beaches, My other farourite
is the Club's site at Godrevy for similar reasons.

Higher Bochym Farm at Helston is an amazingly beautiful CL. Serviced pitches, gorgeous views and very friendly owners. Andrew posted on the late availability section a couple of days ago that he has availability late June/early July as he is normally booked
up solid in the summer-I know as I have 3 weeks booked there! Porthleven about 5 miles away is gorgeous,

The website is www.the-sea.net if you are interested.

With so many great sites in Cornwall and Devon you are spoilt for choice. One of my favourite sutes in Devon has to be Galmpton Touring Park, been there twice now and will go again. http://www.galmptontouringpark.co.uk/

Yes, gorgeous part of the world, you won't be limited in your choice of site, other than be some of the out of way locations down narrow lanes. But sometimes it is worth the effort to get there, and site owners can help with route planning.

Does really depend on what sort of site that you want. Stowford Meadows in North Devon has been nominated for best caravan park and is in the running for this award. Not a little site though but as you said you have boys they might like the indoor pool,
horse riding or clubhouse. Easy access road. We have only stayed there out of season when we have purchased caravans from them and they did the handover - you get a free night. It is just up the road from us. Anyone who wants any info on North Devon please
    just ask.

Our favourite and regular destination- Tower Park, St Buryan Cornwall. Not far from Penzance.

Lovely large flat grass pitches, spread over several different fields.  Small shop and good if not ultra modern facilities. Very friendly & helpful staff. Prices very reasonable and cheaper than club sites.  Recommended. Our destination - 2 weeks mid June.

The area is superb and car parking charges very reasonable compared to many other Coastal spots.

My awning blew away years ago at Damage Barton.  The location is nice but the actual site is a bit soulless.  Like a grass carpark with row after row of vans.

river dart country park on the edge of Dartmoor is lovely.  We had good weather when we went and my daughter was about 10 years old and didn't want to leave the site as the lake with the pirate ship and then the adventure playground is so good.  Nice location
for walking and the coast is easy enough reach.

It's different to the area you usually visit, Ian. Quite rugged in places but with some good beaches. Plenty of places to explore. In my view Lynton, Lynmouth and Clovelly are must sees.

Interesting that all the replies to the original post have been suggestions of independent private sites, both large and small. Not one Club-owned site mentioned.
