Today with regret we had to cancel our trip to Hebden Bridge. This is the first time we have cancelled a booking in the past 12 years the reason was the great british weather. the van was packed yesterday car tanked up,wewoke up to snow high winds and taking
into account the journey I didnt want to tow our twin axle Barcelona in these conditions. Unfortunatley the weather did not give us 3 days warning which is what the club requires so we have been warned. We never have block booked . If we do it again we will
have a smack on the wrist, having seen the rise in night fees and the problems with sites being full at wekends all the time Im thinking it may be time to call it a day with the caravan club and use commercial sites. Too many rules and regulations . ,

Did you try just changing your booking rather than cancelling?

I wouldn't let it worry you ..... the CC might now even make a bit more money by selling the pitch to a family of four

Write your comments here...Had a look on sites further south but no luck. Very dissapointed that we are not away but have got the next bank holiday booked.

Those are the booking conditions we all book sites by. It is only an e-mail pointing out those conditions. The Club have always said that they will take individual circumstances into account before making any decisions. So no one with genuine reasons for
cancellations are likely to be adversely affected. That seems a fair approach to me. Had you booked anywhere else outside the Club you would likely be out of pocket for such a late cancellation, as it is all you have had is an e-mail.

Don't worry about it Dreamer, after 30+ years membership, including through the time when the Club did take deposits, we got our first one last year, through no fault of our own. Just ignore it, it is in the same category of automated junk as that the banks,
HMRC, Pensions, occasionally send out, too much trouble and expense nowadays for humans to get involved!Happy

During the time that my late wife was being treated for Cancer we had to cancel several times over a period of over 12 months.  Once having to cut short a stay to make a run for hospital and informed the Wardens of that.  Each time we received the 'warning'.
When I rang to explain I was told not to worry and disregard it.  What they don't seem to understand is the distress that is caused when already stressed enough.  I am sure that we have not beenthe only people in a similar situation.  I do understand the reasons
    for a cancellation/no show policy.

I don't think the warning system is fit for purpose, I received a warning when I changed from a standard pitch to a serviced pitch within the 73 hour period..

eje - it is an odd system isn't it? Could you actually change pitch type on line? Last year when we went to Troutbeck Head we decided to change from a serviced pitch to a standard one but couldn't do it on line without cancelling our original booking and
    then immediately re-booking! Undecided

If you had booked with the other club you would have lost your deposit. As a CC member all you have got is a badly worded e mail. On many commercial sites you would have paid up front and lost the full cost.

The chances of having to cancel three times given your record is very unlikley and the e mail is in the rules. Basically you just have to live with it and even if you make the cancelations you can still give them your reasons before action is taken. You
have not lost any money so to me you are better off with this system.
