Just been looking at visiting Slinfold Site and find it has gone up from £12-50 to £14-00 per night!!!!!! There are no facilities and volenteer wardens. How can an almost 15% increase be justified. The Caravan Club continues to rip us off!! It was only a
short time ago when these site were £6 per  night and were good value. Could the Club comment please

How expensive it is depends on what you look at, the web site info page and app shows £9.50 for pitch and £4.50 for each adult. Whilst the pdf they released showing all prices, shows an overall  price of £14. If this is the case I do not think the price bad, as it does include EHU and a nearby full facilities site costs £24.50 at peak, for a pitch and two adults. So by using your own facilities a couple are saving £10 A night.

They are the prices that people will pay!

The CC doesn't have to 'justify' price rises to anybody.....which is the same as every other company.

All you can do is not use or buy things that you consider too expensive......it won't make any difference though!!!

I have totally different take on this.  I can stay on CLs with EHU and no facilities for £10/night or other CL's with serviced pitches, free wifi, EHU, 2 fully equipped bathrooms, washing up facilities for £14/night.  The club really need to understand value
for money before I'm a regular club site visitor.

If those sites are open in winter Oneputt, it is difficult to see how they make it pay,  16 amps could potentially cost them £8 or £9. Even 10 amps might set them back £5 or £6. Whilst a farmer may be prepared to run at break even / small profit, it is very
unlikely the CC will ever consider it a viable option.

Plenty are open in the winter.  My favourite is Barleywood which we visit at least 4 times in the winter months.  Take a look at their website.  Barleywood, south creek

Unless you know how the fees are arrived at then it is impossible to say if the fees are too high. We do not know the rental and other costs so we cannot answer the questions.

Costs can rise and fall and may not have any bearing on the inflation rate. We have just been to Durham Grange and the fees there appeared to be lower than last year. To be honest I am not interested in the rise or fall of costs on individual sites but on whether they are value for money.

We started using these sites when they were £10 and cheaper than our regular CL. They've been going up by a £1 or so every year, enabling CLs to put up their prices. I still use them, less frequently, but they are no longer a bargain and probably no longer
value for money unless it is the only option in that area. I did hear from the CC that the Government's changes to the minimum wage has impacted on staff costs which had to be recovered - no mention of recovering by being more efficient though.

Just been to Slinfold.  I remember when it was £5 a night, and that's about what it's still worth - OK, £7.50 with inflation. (Pub in village was expensive too)  Later  I stayed at Balbirnie, Scotland  - £16 for a far better site with full facilities.

Even that is expensive compared to most of the good sites I stayed on during our hols in Europe.  They were mainly round 17 Euro (just over £13)  / night.

We also now boycott them because they are no longer value for money. Just returned from a Haven site.Full EuroPitch with hardstanding, grey waste ,EHU,TV point and water. Cost £11-80 per night, M/H & 2 adults. Dont understand the CC pricng regime particularluy
as more commercials are providing superb "off peak"offers

I've just booked 8 nights at Haven for £56 from middle of may. My first time on a site and not a CL.  Fingers crossed it's ok.  We then move onto a loveely CL on N Yorks Moors at £6 (non ehu).  I've given up even checking club sites.

We were at Hafan y Mor. Superb pitches. Concrete pitch, adjacent gravel awning and then grass seating. Dedicated car parking on tarmac adjacent pitch. Pitches differentiated by hedges.Away from Static vans with dedicated Toilet block. All completed in 2012
at cost of £2.5M. CC could do with looking at the set up before doing their own refurbishment.

The club must be losing a huge amount of revenue. All the people we spoke to were club members. For  the most stupid marketting  ploy the club promotes a 7.5% discount for Haven bookings - direct competition to its own empty "off peak" sites. At the same
time it relentlessly hikes up its own prices.

Compared to what we usually pay in Europe, CC sites are extortionate.

But, we often have difficulty booking a CC site, which tells me, according to the law of supply and demand, tells me the CC have the prices about right.

We and 2 other units are looking at 10/5 for Pembroke. We have a choice of St Davids at £17-50 per night or Haven Tenby at 6-80 (with CC discount which yu get booking direct). Both grass pitches. For less than £8 we get super hard standing pitches. No contests
really and St Davids is half empty at that week end.We stimate the club has lost over £500 this winter from our own sole bookings as we have used these and many other alternative commercial sites. The clubs response seems to be one way - up the prices.

I've just posted a couple of offers in the "Tips to make caravanning Cheaper" section including a serviced HS at less than a CC "no facs" site.
