If you booked a serviced pitch at a holiday park, would you expect water and drainage?

The answer is in the clue "serviced"!  this normally means water tap, drain, electric and on some sites even a toilet disposal point.

Hi Madhouse4, yes I would. We have booked at pitch in Spain which is serviced with water and waste, I know what to expect re water supply, but the waste is just a drain at the base of the supply post, i think, so I need to give that some thought about
    the connection.

We use the system in this article:

    https://caravanchronicles.com/2013/05/26/connecting-your-drainage-on-serviced-pitches/

The smaller diameter ipie slides inside the larger and then fitted on the caravan chassis with bungees for transport. Works very well for us.

Sorry it's more the pitch only has electric, water shared, when on pitchup.com, it says water hook up and we booked a serviced pitch expecting, water and drainage, they say a serviced pitch only has electric?

Not necessarily.  If it was decribed as fully serviced then yes, but quite often serviced just means ehu.

I'm not saying it's right, it's just how it is.

I think the onus is on all of us to check before booking that the pitch will provide what we need and expect because terms such as 'serviced' mean different things to different people.

However to be fair to the site it is clear that a "serviced pitch" is electric only, although it does indicate otherwise on pitchup.com  so perhaps its pitchup.com you should be having words with not the site?

indeed, and then there is superserviced on some sites which really means serviced

I'm just annoyed i'd checked on pitchup that it had a water hook up, so thought it would be ok as I wear special boots and don't walk that well, so i checked there tariff it gave a part serviced pitch with electric, but i assued there must be 2 types so
thought i'd check what was available on the availability section and it came up with a serviced pitch which due to there offices not been open after working days i assumed must be the pitchup one, so booked it, after later getting the chance to ring to confirm
the lady on the phone told me they have hook up's but it to be shared, my thoughts if they have hook ups it should be per caravan? and surely it should be up to the park to check there details are correct on pitch up? I've asked for a manager to ring me at
work, but no such response! great customer service!

To assume, is to make an ass of you and me Tongue Out

Is pitchup the site you booked with, as in the caravan site, not a web site?

Could you e-mail the site directly, or do they have a chat facility on their website?

Serviced pitch appears an oxymoron in lots of cases.

    Serviced is defined as:

    Electric Hook Up.

Grass pitch with Electric Hook Up.

Hard standing with Electric Hook Up

Grass pitch with EHU + Water tap (possibly shared)

Hard Standing with EHU + Water Tap (possibly shared)

Grass pitch with EHU + Water + grey waste drain (possibly shared)

Hard Standing with EHU + Water + grey waste drain (possibly shared)

Grass pitch with EHU + water + grey waste + black waste (possibly shared)

HS with EHU + water + grey waste + black waste (possibly shared)

Then there can be Super Pitches that are larger with or without any of the other things listed.

If in doubt check. Measure twice, cut once as difficult to put the bit back on.

Is the shared hook up simply a post with two plugs. I cannot see any other option unless they are using a splitter connection on a single plug which would hardly count as serviced. To me a serviced pitch has at least its own or shared water and drainage
but there is no actual national definition so you can be misled.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, The most annoying thing to be honest is managment can't be bothered to return a call, And my own thoughts if they advertise serviced it should be serviced, I suppose Its a steep learning curve!

I would agree using the term service pitch is very misleading and I would have thought it would probably include water and drainage hook ups. However, I always check to see what their definition is, as there is so much variation between sites. Even then it does not mean you do not come unstuck. After 10 years of caravaning, managing with 9 metres of water hose, we managed to find a site that needed 15 metres. No mention on the site details, presumably because they want to sell you the extra hose. However, at least the price for the hose was reasonable.

Hi thanks for everybody's advice, Rang again this dinnertime and spoke to a lady who promised to ring back and to be fair she did, refunding our money, and altering on the website to part serviced, rather than serviced when you check avilability, I think
in all honesty it was maybe a mistake on both out parts!
