Last year we travelled to St David's Head in Wales and before I went I asked you lot what the best way to go was and I received some great advice so I'm here again! I am travelling from near Market Harborough in Leicestershire to Barmouth. Site 2261. Has
anyone done this journey or something like it. The M6 near to Lutterworth, M54, A5 to near Corwen then left to A494 then A493 seems to be the way but experience is everything so if anyone has any tips I'm more than happy to receive them. Thanks.

OK until after Bala on A494 which then twists a bit until  Dolgellau which is bypassed then twisty again on A493. Should be alright unless you have a very large outfit but you have probably seen site 2261 states not suitable for large outfits, you will see
    why when you get there

Yes seems as good a route as any.No major obstacles, scenic and with a number of stops on the way.If desperate for a cuppa, try RHUG Estate just after Corwen.Plenty of parking and well signposted.

Write your comments here...Another one? I was directed to Abergavenny last year to the butchers there when we nipped into Pandy (vouchers). Excellent sausages! In fact, everything was excellent! Thanks for that.

Write your comments here...Thanks Ian. Yes, I was asked if I had a decent towcar. She was ok with my answer. A 3 litre Toyota Surf 4WD with low box and diff. Should be ok. I am on the top pitch apparently so fun and games await!

    Hi Merve,

My preferred route would be M54 - A5 to Shrewsbury bypass and then A458 via Welshpool and Llanfair Caereinion to the A470 and on to the Dolgellau bypass to the A493. This may have less traffic than the A5 through Llangollen. There is a twisty descent on
the A458 to the A470 and then a fairly steep climb on the A470 north of Dinas Mawddwy, but I have towed it several times without any problems.

I think the most challenging part of the route would be the final approach to Arthog on the A493. Beware of several pinch points with poor visibility.

    Cheers

Forget the overpriced food at Rhug, your better off with the traditional butcher J Roberts in Bala. Recently there was a story in the press about another "high end" outfit here in North Wales. The lady had paid a premium price for "local" pork only to find
on returning home that it was a product mass produced in Belgium. Labelling is useless Did you know that if lamb had a trip in a lorry from England and was slaughtered in Anglesey, it was "Welsh Lamb", Never had an ounce of welsh grass in it.
