Quick fix to the Buxton problem, limit each pitch to 6 amp by changing circuit breaker/fuse and wait for the uproar.

Works for me!  I'd be happy with that solution if it's possible.

Seems a shame to see people cancelling

Write your comments here...Just beat me to it Ian.  Sharing the available power by limiting each bollard outlet to 6 Amps would be fair to all.  6 amps would keep everybody's leisure battery topped up. We all have gas, so cooking and heating can be done
    by gas.

It is only fair to share. !!!!

    Smile

I don't need to be asked, I would volunteer Innocent .

The first chance you'd get to volunteer is when you get the email to say you've been volunteered
    Laughing

I'm not worried.  In fact the site may be a bit quieter Laughing

Everywhere within the area seems to be full. I have had no reply from the Wardens unfortunately and no call from HQ as promised via the web site live chat assistant. I have just replied to the email sender and am awaiting a reply or call from someone. As
I said earier I am a little confused as the dates for the email do not correspond with my booking dates.

This is what the email says.

    Dear Member

    Re:  Buxton Caravan Club Site

Due to an on-going electrical problem we are experiencing at the Buxton Caravan Club Site, we find it necessary to contact you prior to your visit on 29 April 2016.

In order for us to maintain the electrical supply, not just to the toilet block but to the whole site, including lighting, barriers, etc, we are having to limit the demand by reducing the number of pitches with electricity.

We have looked at our bookings for this date and advise that unfortunately your booking is affected by this issue over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.  However, rather than cancelling your booking, we are happy to be able to offer you a non-electric pitch
for your chosen holiday dates at a discounted rate of £5 per night (normal non-electric pitch fee being £3 per night less than the standard pitch charge with electricity).

We can confirm that your booking cost will be re-calculated automatically on arrival at site, in accordance with the £5 per night reduction.  Please note that as a result of the above issue, pitches without electric will have to be allocated on arrival.

Should you not wish to proceed on this basis, you can cancel your booking or check alternative sites on the Website
www.caravanclub.co.uk  or through the Contact Centre booking channel (01342 327490) or direct with sites.

In order for us to plan for your arrival, please can you confirm that your booking will be proceeding on this basis by the end of the day on Wednesday 20 April 2016 latest.  You can respond to this email address or by telephone call to Buxton on 01298 77735.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and would like to reassure you that plans to resolve this problem are in place.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

    Yours sincerely

Fantastic news for me, I have just received a call from HQ, as a result of replying to the email just a short time ago, and things have changed overnight and I am now able to stay the night of the 29th with electric as per my booking. As I am sure you can
all imaging these sorts of problems will present lots of logistical issues for everyone involved so I am pleased I am now secure to see my friends who will drive up to meet us for the day on the 28th. I was hoping to have had a cancelation for the remainder
of the weekend as the Saturday night was full when I initially booked some weeks ago, but I gues I shall just have to go home a little early. Regards, Roy

Great news!  I suspect that a space will turn up on site even if it's without hook up for the rest of the weekend

    Well it.gets even better

Booked to go to Uttoxeter Saturday 30th until Monday the 2nd

The booking went through OK even had the confirmation email

2 days later email came through saying as there is a race meet on the Saturday our booking needs to be changed fine I thought we can go on Friday till Monday nope Friday fully booked

So it looks we are cancelling the bh I will be going into work but it gives us the chance to get the mh home for a deep clean before we head off to holland at the end of may for 10 days

Hope everyone really enjoys the bh weekend and that the weathers great for everyone

If there are spaces on the Saturday but fully booked Friday, people must be leaving Saturday morning, before racing starts. Could they not have made an exception in the circumstances and let you arrive early.

just checked and leavers have to be out by 10 am.

I would normally agree, but seeing as you have been messed about, through no fault of your own, and the system let you book it, when it should not have. You would have thought they could make an exception in this case. Wardens discresion.

Cannot see a problem.... Just go onto gas and 12 volt leccy being off grid should not be a problem

    Hooker

It shouldn't be a problem really but just not that confident yet to go off grid

We need to try it so might go somewhere just for one night
