Cancellation of booking
i have just booked my first few nights of our first ever campervan holiday. My booking for the first night was confirmed and I had paid in full when booking. I have now received an email from the site saying that they have made a mistake as it is a bank
holiday weekend and they do not accept one night bookings. Is this normal? Should I be worried about my other bookings?

This can't be a club site, is it an AS?
Are they then offering you a full refund?

Sounds like it's an AS or other private site. We are testing out our new van on a private site and I know they have a rule of 4 nights minimum stay over a bank hoilday.

No it's not a club site. Hired a campervan for week and booked the first night in haste and excitement. i then joined the club and booked the rest so from your question I should not have this problem with the other sites as they are club sites. Yes they
have offered a refund it is just a worrying start.0 -

Just book a club site for your first night. If there aren't any pitches available at the site you want, the chances are there will be a few late cancelations and you will be able to get a pitch even for the one night. You can also try ringing the site.

Many thanks for the replies. The site was Elm Cottage in Cumbria. It is about 2 hours north of Just go hire where we are picking up the campervan from. Thought that 2 and a half hours drive north (we are heading to Scotland) for the first afternoon that
we have ever driven one of these was probably about right.0 -
I suggest Troutbeck Head, that's 20 minutes from the M6, nice site and level, easy to get to. Good facilities

Kendall might be a better overnight stop if there is room. It is virtually on the motorway but it is heavily wooded and pitches are in clearings so not for everybody.
The cheapest club site option is Englethwaite Hall, a fantastic site, a bit further off the motorway, but no toilet block if thet is important to you.
