I am thinking of going from West Hampshire up to Coniston Water later this year.  Can anybody give me any advice on where to stop half way so i can break my journey.  I am towing on my own with 2 dogs and this will be the second time of towing alone.  Is
it an easy/difficult access into Coniston Park as have seen varying reports.

Thanks

Presumably you'll bevgoing up the M5, td, so would Tewkesbury Abbey CC site be suitable? Dead easy to get to off the motorway and back on again next morning and nice walk along the river for you and the dogs to stretch your legs.

The approach to Park Coppice is OK as long as you approach from the south (leave M6 at J36 and go via New by Bridge and Torver) a couple of narrow spots but nothing unmanageable with care.

    Enjoy! Happy

As M says re the approach. I've done it several times with no issues. Happy

Agree that there is a need to take care between Greenodd and Torver, but coaches and heavy lorries do it. Around Blawith is a particularly narrow windy stretch so a toot on the horn could be helpful to anybody coming from the other direction.

Access into the site itself is good.

    Have a safe trip.

If you're using the M4 and want a break when you reach the M5 the new Gloucester services north are good, they also have a dog walk. Strensham north is fairly easy too. After that the M6 Stafford services aren't too bad and the caravans are in a separate area away from the lorries with some grassy areas nearby. If you want an overnight stop, I think Tewkesbury or Malvern would be ok.

Tiggy, do you want a night's stop of just somewhere to walk the dogs? Are you willing to use a CL. There are a few from Worcester in the south to Cheshire in the north that you could use for a night stop and are close to the M5 & M6.

My suggestion would be Chapel Lane as Tewksbury although easy to reach is a bit too far South to me. It is just off the motorway and easy to find.

Access to the Coniston site is reasonable. There are a couple of narrow bits on the road as you approach but provided you take care it should not be a problem.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I think I travel M6 way so was looking for somewhere sort of half way between home and coniston which seems to be about Birmingham !! I don't mind a CL and would probably stop for 2 nights in each direction as it would
give both me and the dogs a break.

Presume youd be doing M40/M6 then? So Chapel Lane would be close to that route. Hope you have a good trip!Smile

Or Are you going M4/M5/M6? However north of Birmingham there's a CL at Gailey....Streetway House, No 1516 in site Directory, that's been recommended by a fellow CT memeber, Cyberyacht. That might provide you with a midway stop-off point.
