Change for change's sake with new wardens?
On a site recently the established wardens had left that day, new ones taken over.
There was a box at the 'out' barrier to drop keys and cards in on leaving. They promptly removed it and put a notice to put keys through the office letterbox which was a few metres away. Aside from the baffled people who stopped and literally spend minutes
trying to work out how to post their keys in the sign this caused much more congestion on the exit road as people had to stop, get out and walk back to post keys whereas with the old system you stopped to wait for the barrier to rise and dropped keys in the
box at the same time.
Made me wonder if wardens coming on felt the need to make changes straight away to 'put their mark' on the site?

Clearly they thought it far better for numerous people to walk to the office (and for queues to form at the exit), rather than one of them having to walk to the box each day.
I've seen this with new 'bosses' where they have everyone change desks (or some other equally pointless excercise) on their first day, just to 'show everyone who's boss'......a clear sign of their own weakness and fragility of course, that they find it impossible
to earn anyone's respect.0 -
Poolsbrook had a box at the exit barrier when we were there in March, worked well, I thought, saved parking and then walking back.

Ahhhhh - the site I was talking about is Poolsbrook......no box anymore. Unless of course they have put it back now in response to demand - hopefully so as removing it definitely made for more congestion on the road. The exit isnt that well designed anyway
as visibility isnt brilliant and you have to swing out so people queueing made it worse.0 -

I agree that a box at the exit barrier is a good idea although, once we're all hitched up and ready to go, I usually pop to the office with the keys whilst OH stays with our unit on the pitch. I just like to say thank you to the site staff. Of course,
if the office is shut then I pop them into the letterbox. We then just exit at the barrier without the need to stop.0 -

Wonder how many keys and cards they will lose in a year
I know if you lose a card on site its a fiver to get a new one - but not sure what happens if people just dont hand them back in? Presumably the club will chase them for them if they are members but non-members I dont know.
We used to do what you do Jill - then on our first trip out with the RV we wanted to leave early to get home so at 7am on a Sunday I posted the keys, OH drove up to the barrier and we couldnt get out without the swipe!! Not good for anyone - we had only done a one night stop so hadnt realised we needed it to exit (never had that on a site before) so now we double check before I go and hand them back in.
