I have a little list of remembered sites which includes one where they offered me a coffee when I arrived,  one which offers scones with clotted cream, one where they walk around for a chat in the evening to ask if everything is OK, and one owner who offers to cook evening meals for me, another where the owner throws a drinks party twice a year on special occasions,  one where I can freely pick salads in her garden, and another where I  can buy local honey and strawberries, one where all the residents set up trestle tables and organised an outdoor Sunday lunch and drank a lot and laughed when we won the raffle, one where they provided fire pits for late night bonfires. And so on.

They aren't Club sites.  I'm afraid I find Club sites boring.

"It is only when selfish antisocial people, who think that those rules don't apply to them are allowed to cause disharmony on sites that decent people become dissatisfied."

Fortunately, though, that seems to be a characteristic of CT; I don't think I've ever come across it actually on CC sites!

Happy. Use left and right arrows to navigate.

Well I have!  Like the couple parked next to us on a CC site in January who went out for the night and came back at 1.30 in the morning.  OK, no big deal - but did they have to spend the next 30 to 45 minutes continually going in and out of their motorhome
and banging the door and then play loud music and 'talking' at the top of their voices?

To add insult to injury, when we were packing up to leave at 9.00 am the following morning (to make sure we met the departure time), he came out of the motorhome and glared at me - presumably because we were making a noiseFrown

Not too keen on the regimentation, much prefer a more laid back approach to pitching. If all pitches are taken up and roads on site are narrow it can be difficult reversing onto pitch without a mover.

As I posted elsewhere, setting the pitches chevron style would facilitate manouvering and accommodate longer vans that little bit better.

I can put you onto a site where the owner organises a "bring your own" happy hour, went to town to get bread when the  usual baker was on holiday and runs a site with first class sanitary block, swimming pool, huge hedged hard standing pitches, 16amp electricity
and Wifi that allows for TV streaming at the pitch. All for a €12 a night. Nearly forgot and views to die for.

    Ah... the euro sign!

I'm glad you think so, but please stay on topic this is about dislikes.

I never imagined that there were sites where the owners offered to cook your food (unless you pay them for that service and then its called a resturant)

I have 2 aspects I dislike. First off is the formula design approach to the layouts especially of the more recent sites, or as has been touched on by others 'boring' and characterless. Second is the lack of dog wash facilities - for which i would happily
pay to use. Seems a bit incongruous to provide dog walks and welcome dogs but then overlook the real world need of somewhere to clean your dog.

    Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that I have removed any posts containing personal information.

If I could ask everyone to remain on topic here, we're getting a few comments bordering on insulting and I'd like to keep it polite!

    Thanks all,

Yes, it only takes a few to disrupt the topic. I have many more likes than dislikes, but my only real gripe in addition to a previous post would be the price of a pitch. Not the affordability but the value for money aspect.

what do you mean? in what way does a club hardstanding pitch not give value for money? I agree that a grass pitch is, for me, not worth paying for, so I don't

Lots of pot calling kettle black comments a few pages back. It would be funny if it weren't so tedious.

Do you not think CC prices represent value for money, Dave? I don't think they're too bad unless you're looking at peak rates. Then it's a bit over the top for exactly the same facilities available all season through.

Yes, I should have added that bit in, it's peak rates that are OTT for nothing additional. As a club it would be so much better to even the pitch prices out over the Spring/Summer/Autumn to accommodate families who have limited choices when to go away.

The only real thing that we object to is the high prices paid for a pitch on a CC site.  Every year the increase seems to be higher than inflation.

If extra staff were employed, or additional family friendly facilities provided, it would make more sense. The CC standpoint is that peak rates are the true rates and are discounted during the rest of the year. Yeah, course they are!

The appalling wi-fi, only one disabled washroom per site, the MH service points, barrier card/fob units situated too low to reach from a MH, the need to close facility blocks for 2 hours when cleaning should take 45 mins tops, inadequate laundry machines,
lukewarm water at washing up sinks. I expect I'll think of something else.

..Some years ago I had to have use of the Disabled cubicle as i was wheelchair bound and  another person was most put out that there was more than herself wanted to use it Undecided

The deposit is £25 or the total fees due if less than £25, Michael. I agree that the booking restriction of not being able to book a single night at certain times is a pain and they've lost my business on more than one occasion due to that. Touring doesn't
always lend itself to staying more than one night and that's something CC have got right.

On C&CC sites you cannot book 1 night online true, but you can phone the site direct and book 1 night, helpful if you are touring.  Also if you are on a C&CC site and you want to move on to another one, you can book ahead through the site office.  I always
have trouble with their online booking system anyway and always end up ringing and making a booking over the phone.

To get back on topic, I don't think I can pinpoint an actual dislike on a club site, except perhaps 2 hours does seem a tad excessive to shut the toilet block for cleaning.  The timing is not an issue, as we are "dawn chorus" risers and grumpy old g's the
other end of the day, lol.

You can book single nights on line with the C&CC but some busy sites have minimum night bookings. You can also book ahead in a CC site office and all CC sites have single nights available, a great plus for the CC (wrong thread for praise!Wink)
