Washing Lines
Most CC members should be aware of the rules whilst on Club sites concerning the erecting of washing lines to dry clothes...On a recent short stay on a Club site there was an arrival of a brand new motor home and the following morning the owners erected
a rope between their corner handle and the metal fence behind their outfit , which was about 10feet away, and loaded same with a load of washing...When passing their motor home to go on a walk into town, I commented to the owner that site rules state that
erecting of washing lines in this manner was not allowed...From his reaction I realised he was aware that it wasn't but hey, what the heck...On our return a half hour later, the line and washing was all down so whether he thought better of his wrong doing
or the warden had spoken to him (not as a result of me shopping him), I'll never know...Luckily the majority of site users abide by the rules and sites appearances are the better for it.

My godfathers!! it is amazing what upsets some people! If I wish to put out a washing line (as I have done on some occasions) then that's down to me and no one else! If its on my pitch don't whinge. If it goes to the fence behind me then don't creep around
my pitch, but keep your eyes open and your head down. Sorry Scottie, but irrespective of the rules let others enjoy a bit of piece, quiet and goodwill. I think you'll find that few members are aware of that rule and washing lines - whirlygigs - are fairly
common which implies that the rule is not enforced.0 -
This is a website for airing ones grievances or is it now becoming the norm for others to ignore the general appearances of our Club sites, God forbid the sites are costing enough so we should be able to expect a site that is pleasing to the eye...Whirlies
and window mounted air ears are not offensive , ropes onto fences and trees are.0 -
I see the curtain twitching and tutting season has commenced!

but what about these?
Lakeside Club site near Dulverton was selling those when we went there last year

I just looked through the rules
see here and can’t find any mention of washing lines.0 -
I think it's in the site leaflets, Jay, and the intention is to prevent damage that might be caused by tethering a washing line to a tree/hedge/bush. I don't think it has anything to do with displaying your frillies for the world to see

You're welcome, Jay. We could all use tumble driers, I suppose, rather than having our washing on show. How about tumble driers in awnings? There's a thought for a new thread!

TW, you just made me smile as it reminded me that while on a site a few years ago, a woman on the next pitch used to wash her smalls and then dry them by hanging them from a slightly opened window.
I can only think she forgot to pack enough pairs.

Sorry to appear so dour, but I think some people should get a life, unless moaning IS their life
Correct me if I'm wrong, CT is about helping members with their problems, asking/giving advice, friendly discussion, giving a friendly welcome to newcomers etc....

The 'window' airers won't fit our caravan without damaging the blinds (which pull up from the bottom) so we have a 'whirly' and it is used just to dry our towels and those used to dry the dog. It is discreetly placed behind the back of the caravan, as out
of sight as possible.Sorry - but if this is yet another rule to be abided by on Club sites, then all it does is persuade me to avoid Club sites in favour of CL's (and CS's), where, generally, common sense and reason seem to prevail.

Who wants to wash when on holiday anyway! Granted if you have children or are on an extended tour you might but that's what the washing room and dryer are for.
Unfortunately on a 6 week tour it is inevitable and we do of course use the laundry. However, the CC have not helped themselves in this respect, with the way above inflation rise for this service. A load now costs £6, £4 for the wash and a minimum of two
drying cycles at £1 each. Therefore if the weather is nice, we will hand wash and use the spin/ rinse cycle ar just a £1, before hanging on the rotary drier.0 -
I do not go on holiday in a caravan to look out at other peoples' clean(ish) washing. There is a name for the type of people who do.

Write your comments here...Navigateur, nothing constructive in your comments .....I don't recollect any part of my post referring to monitoring the drying of clothes on sites in general....It's an observation on a singular incident and one which by drawing
to other members attention will make it one which will not be considered as a normal practice.....leaflets exist on club sites not to do it.Write your comments here..

Don't kid yourself that your post will make a difference Scottie. A very, very small proportion of CC members use CT and it will all be forgotten very quickly. Sorry to disillusion you.

Scottie......don't worry, the standard 'put-down' on here is to label anyone who notices anything on a site as a "curtain twitcher".
It's only a matter of time before someone says "I'm too busy enjoying my holiday to notice these things"
Presumably, when they leave or return to the site or they go to the toilet block, they do so with their eyes firmly closed.
